List of Steven G. Dorsky's Reviews
One of the best in the field. Remarkable surgeon! Staff was friendly and informative!
Dr. Dorsky saw me for a follow-up and was very professional and positive regarding my back condition. He made me feel comfortable and gave me the results of my X-rays in easy to understand language and in a way that kept me at ease.
I went to see Dr Dorsky for a second opinion. He answered all my questions very thoroughly and put my mind at ease. He made me feel so much better as I was so nervous about what the first Dr said. I would highly recommend Dr Dorsky.
I am an 81-year-old male and in 9/2022 I experienced severe pain in my lower back and left leg. After some research, I contacted the NJ Spine Center. Dr Steven Dorsky informed me that I had spinal stenosis. He prescribed an MRI test and said that we would have a fuller discussion after we had results. The MRI confirmed the initial diagnosis and revealed that there was disc deterioration and some age-related wear and tear in the lumbar area. Dr Dorsky, and his PA, Mary Ann Rivera, spent time discussing the conditions and treatments. In November I agreed to have a laminectomy procedure and spinal fusion surgery. Follow-up appointments with Dr. Dorsky and PA Rivera, along with x-ray results, have been positive. At this time, 16 weeks after surgery, I wake up in the morning with no pain in my lower back, and I have progressed from minimal walking prior to the surgery to 2-3 miles per day. I am very grateful to Dr Dorsky for his skills that alleviated my pain and restored my life style.
I am an 81-year-old male and in September 2022, I experienced severe pain in my lower back and left leg. I had had sciatica issues in the past and physical therapy (PT) helped me recover. I arranged for PT sessions and I had six weeks of treatment. There was no significant improvement and after a discussion with the therapist I contacted an orthopedic group that he recommended. They did not deal with spine issues but recommended several that did. After some research, I contacted the NJ Spine Center. I was scheduled for an initial appointment with Dr. Steven Dorsky. After a preliminary interview and examination, Dr. Dorsky informed me that it was very likely that, at a minimum, I had spinal stenosis. He prescribed an MRI test and said that we would have a fuller discussion after we had results. The MRI and x-rays confirmed the preliminary diagnosis of spinal stenosis and revealed that there was some disc deterioration and some age-related wear and tear in the lumbar area. Dr Dorsky, and his PA, Mary Ann Rivera, spent time with me discussing and explaining the conditions and treatments. Both were very direct in providing information. I was impressed with the honesty that they conveyed and the confidence that they projected. I agreed to have a laminectomy procedure and spinal fusion surgery. Late in November I had the procedures and I spent three nights in the hospital. The day of the surgery I walked, with careful attention from hospital staff, from the hallway to my bed. The next day I had a physical therapy session focused on in-bed movement, getting up from and getting back into the bed, and hallway walking. In the next two days I had additional PT sessions on ambulatory cautions and skills. I was amazed with how good I felt, but I was concerned about doing something that would cause a set-back. I had follow-up appointments with Dr. Dorsky and PA Rivera one week and three weeks after surgery. These sessions were informative, positive and encouraging about the surgery outcomes and the recovery period to follow. They encouraged me to walk as much as possible and they arranged for at-home PT sessions. At this time, sixteen weeks after surgery, I wake up in the morning with no pain in my lower back, and I have progressed from minimal walking prior to the surgery to averaging 2-3 miles of walking per day. Follow-up appointments along with x-ray results have been very positive. I am looking forward to being approved for some core exercises with a physical therapist in the near future. I am very grateful to Dr Dorsky for his surgical skills that alleviated my pain and restored my active lifestyle.
I am 45 years old and have been seeing Dr. Dorsky since I was 28. He has done 4 surgeries on me in that time and I couldn't be happier with his work. Not only is he great, but his Physician Assistant, MaryAnn, is wonderful also. They are very thorough, they go over everything, test everything and make sure they have the best plan in place. I have 3 lower back surgeries from L4 down to S1 and the most recent was neck surgery for C3-C5. Every surgery has been a success and wouldn't trust anyone else with my spine. From the first day I met him, I knew he would be the one to do my surgery and as time has gone on he continues to work on my spine when necessary. He does not push surgery, he only wants what is best for you. I can't thank him enough for the relief he has given me and ability to have a productive life with my 4 children again. I highly recommend him to anyone who needs help resolving back and neck issues.
I feel that Dr. Dorsky left no stone unturned in my quest to relieve my back and neck issues; in order for me to try and move on with my life. The office staff is excellent as well.
Dr. Dorsky is an excellent surgeon. He performed neck surgery on me to remove decompression. While he is extremely professional, he is direct and straight to the point which may cause concern to some. For me he is the best surgeon and a caring physician. I would highly recommend him.
The Doctor and his team know what they’re talking about. I seen multiple other doctors because of an awkward situation I was placed in. Doctor Dorsky and his team within minutes knew what was wrong and what to do. They did the entire process of therapy and all that and it didn’t work and said surgery is the next step. I agreed but since my situation of WC was a odd on the WC told Me I was lying even with the doctors best advice I wasn’t. Now to find out he was right and I wish that about a year ago would have been fixed. Don’t listen to other people sometimes even doctors don’t listen my second opinion told me no but dr dorsky and the 8 other I paid for said yes. Hopefully this shows you that sometimes they do know what they speak of and it’s not about the money. He genuinely wanted to help my pain and more and his knowledge is top quality in this field. Too many people allow feelings to write this. When you sit in the ring of fire, makes you realize who wants to help and who doesn’t. Doc wanted to help, and by now I would have had my life back.
Steven Dorsky operated on me 15 years ago and ruined me. My life has been hell since he performed a laminectomy on me. Subsequently, I had four reconstructive surgeries to no avail. The physicians who performed the subsequent surgeries all said that the original surgery was a disaster. I recommend that you not use Dorsky, he will ruin you. There are similar reviews like mine in which Dorsky butchered his victims.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
