List of Peter Heit Md's Reviews
Saw Dr. Heit at 18 for severe stomach pain/issues and he refused to do colonoscopy and diagnosed me with IBS & told me to take Tylenol. 10 years of major blood loss & pain, I was properly diagnosed with Severe Crohns. I lived 10 years in severe pain, developed an ED because I was fearful of eating and being in pain & thought I was crazy because he refused to take proper steps to help me. Avoid him at all costs.
Dr. Heit has been nothing but great for me these last 6-7 years. His 38+ years of medical experience have been a blessing for me.
This man is a terrible person. I saw him for an exam and made the mistake of wearing a shirt that blended different religious symbols together, which obviously offended him when he pointed to it and asked "what is this?". He then ignored everything I had to say about my condition and proceeded to give me an exam so painful that I fainted while he acted with no regard, concern, or regret completely emotionless like a serial killer. I spent the rest of the day bleeding in a very traumatic way and over a decade later still am horrified about it
Never saw the doctor. I made my appointment 6 weeks in advance and verified my insurance. I also faxed my insurance cards in advance and filled out online and uploaded my insurance cards ahead of time. I went to my appointment and was told they do not take my insurance. very dissapointed in the rude and incompetent staff.
He has been my family Doctor for at least 35 years. His knowledge is far beyond his specialty and we have consulted with him and he has provided us with the correct compass. Above all he is compassionate
Highly Recommended he knows his stuff and has very nice communication skills and I did have to call him one evening and he actually called me back at 9:30 at night which is unusual to find offices are going to call you back late
He is an arrogant Jerk. I do not even know how he is considered a GI specialist. I saw him inpatient in the hospital and he was awful. He does not care about you and is rude. I will never allow him to see or treat me as I do not believe he is competent. I only gave one star because you can not give zero. I would never recommend him to anyone.
I had two colonoscopies five years apart with Dr. Heit. I had a consultation with him before both procedures. Before the first procedure, he introduced himself as the "butt doctor" which I didn't find to be very funny or appropriate. The nurses in surgery during the first procedure were making jokes about how I was going to get some good drugs and implied that I would enjoy the "high" which I also found inappropriate. I think he is competent and did his job well but I think he needs to work on his bedside manner.
I found him to be arrogant and dismissive. Didn't listen, overlooked important symptoms.
I was admitted to the hospital this past Tuesday night with severe pain in my throat and chest. I was being treated as a cardiac patient but also problems with my esophagus. Dr. Heit came into my hospital room very early the next morning, introduces himself, sat down and immediately asked me what were my symptoms, how I was feeling at the time and I explained my present and past symptoms. He told me that a cardiologist was coming in but with my symptoms he believed it was gastro problems which I do have. But would wait for the cardiologist. I was scheduled for next week for an endoscopy and he explained he would do the endoscopy while I was in the hospital and would get all my records and research and not to worry he would take care of everything. He was extremely caring, and I felt very confident with him. He was very congenial with me and put me at ease the day of my procedure and did change my meds which were not helping me. I will be following up with him next week to schedule a colonoscopy which is needed. I have only good things to say about Dr. Heit who put me at ease after my procedure.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
