I would put 0 stars if I could. I wasn’t going to post but feel I have a responsibility to others. We were fooled by the 5 star reviews. My father was a patient of Dr. Salwitz. He was treated for stage IV gastroesophageal junction cancer that had metastasized to my his liver, appendix, and peritoneum. My dad was of course terrified going into treatment and completely trusted everything Dr. Salwitz recommended. Right from the beginning my dad was treated like a number, or part of an assembly line. My Dad knew his condition was bad and continuously asked Dr. Salwitz “you will tell me if I am terminal right”. But Dr. Salwitz never gave him a straight answer. The first round of chemo made my dad very sick. My dad was again terrified and in a ton of pain but could not reach anyone at Dr. Salwitz office for help, he sat on hold for almost an hour each time so he eventually landed in the ER. While in hospital, Dr. Salwitz did not come to see him once (my dad ended up being in hospital a total of 3 times) and only the last time did Dr. Salwitz come in to see my dad. At this time my dad was very ill and asked Dr. Salwitz again “ you will tell me if I am going to die right”? To which Dr. Salwitz responded yes I give you two weeks. This was very unfair to my dad who may have chosen a different treatment path had he known as well as us his family who were not prepared when he passed 4 days later. I think Dr. Salwitz behavior is disgusting and would not recommend him to anyone . You cannot get straight answers from him, you cannot get a hold of him when you need him, and his staff are rude. Please go somewhere else, you deserve better! Don’t be fooled by all the 5 star reviews.

Dr Salwitz is one of the most caring and knowledgeable doctor I have ever met. Dr Salwitz helped to reach out to my mom's neurosurgeon to discuss the best treatment for her brain tumor. Dr Salwitz is sincere and attentive. He returns my phone calls on a timely basis and listens to our concerns with utmost patience. We are very fortunate to have Dr Salwitz as my mom's medical oncologist and I know she is now in good hands. I respect his opinion very highly and appreciate everything he has done for my mom. Thank you Dr. Salwitz!!

Probably the finest doctor I've ever known. Consider yourself lucky that you may be treated by this doc.

Very disappointing experience with Dr Salwitz. He assured me that I did not need to rush in to treatments for my metastatic prostate cancer, even when my PSA had accelerated 4 fold in just six weeks. In subsequent second opinions with other doctors, I found that I am BRCA2+ that makes me highly susceptible for aggressive PC, which Dr Salwitz had not tested for nor even discussed it. I am now under another Oncologist's care and am being treated aggressively.

Dr. Salwitz is a deeply compassionate and highly intelligent physician! I really appreciated his holistic approach, his warm and humble demeanor, and his attentiveness. He is very accessible and answers all of my questions with patience and graciousness even if I repeat the same question. He never made me feel like my question wasn't important. I'm a difficult patient who dislikes medicine and have had negative experiences with health care providers in the past. He earned my trust and respect through his empathetic, reasonable, sound- minded, and supportive nature. When I got diagnosed with I was overwhelmed by the daunting task of choosing my medical team. I knew that the oncologist played an important role in the success of treatment and recovery... Finding Dr. Salwitz was a gift from God. I highly recommend him. He is very knowledgeable and generously educates you. Although, he at times, speaks very fast, he does communicate very well and even takes notes for you to take home. Some of his nurses are the most caring, gentle, and sweetest I've seen in my life. This world needs more compassionate, skilled doctors like him!

Dr. Salwitz saved my life and I couldn't be more grateful. He was smart enough to send me for an MRI of the brain only to find out that I had a benign tumor. Dr. Salwitz referred me to a fantastic neurosurgeon who removed my tumor at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital. I am on the road to a full recovery and cannot express how fantastic Dr. Salwitz is. I would recommend him to anyone and would not look any further. Dr. Salwitz also saved my mother in law's life 11 years ago. We just love Dr. Salwitz.

They don't make them like Dr. Salwitz anymore. He is everything you would want in a doctor. Brilliant, attentive, fantastic bedside manner, great sense of humor, patient, warm and oh so kind. I wish all doctors could be like him. He is seriously the best doctor I have ever seen.

Dr. Salwitz treated my mother for breast/bone cancer and he and his staff were kind, compassionate, caring and extremely competent. They were always upbeat and made my mother feel special, like she was their only patient and very important, especially Dr. Salwitz. They gave us all hope and more time to spend together.
