Hackensack Meridian Jfk Johnson Rehabilitation Institute's Online Review Report Card

My mom had brain surgery and had to stayed at JFK Johnson Rehab Institute for two weeks to recover her motor function. She wants me to write this review to thank doctors, nurses, and staffs there who worked hard together to help her recovery. She could not remember everyones names, here is just a few that she remembers. Nurses: Sherwin, Ju, James, Fritzie, Kelly, Sally, Eden. Her PT, OP, and ST therapists: Amanda, Katrina, and Hana.The facility looks a little old from outside, and is a little crowded inside. But their health workers deserve five stars.

It's a fantastic place and I recommend it to anyone who has just had a Cardio problem, like a Stent or bypass done.

My client has persistently had problems getting a phone call back regarding their wheelchair. Clients in wheelchairs should be a top priority since this is their way of life and their wheelchair is their mode of transportation their motive comfort and their way to live their life. It is so absolutely devastating when someone is ignored it especially someone in the wheelchair! How absolutely awful

Excellent Occupational and Physical therapists

I had a TERRIBLE experience here myself, and promised it would be addressed, with a letter sent to me. The letter sent, listed a complaint I never made. Their way to "address" it, was to inform me that they "confirmed" it didn't happen. It's true, the complaint they wrote down never happened...which is why that was never my complaint!Even after a LONG conversation with someone from JFK, it was now in writing, that they still weren't listening. It's going to take ALOT to change this hospitals reputation, but I hope things change for the sake of those going to them for help.

Avoid at all costs, if at all possible. Some of the nursing staff are very nice, attentive and kind but we had reports of neglect, bed wetting due to delay in response time as well as over medication.If you must use these facilities make sure you have family and friends present every day; it is the only way to ensure the staff stays on their toes. The hygiene of the rehab is sub-par, we have had to expressly ask that the room be cleaned regularly, as in daily. The facilities are old, the furniture dates back to the 80's and poses mobility issues as well as its not being appropriate for the room sizes.Judge for yourself, but as previously mentioned, if at all possible, avoid this rehab and choose another facility within your network offerings.

Avoid Avoid Avoid JFK at all costs! The PT service I received was excellent, but, as always, the admin got in the way. I paid my bill in full in October, and just came home to a collection notice. Of course, I cannot get a live person on the phone to discuss the issue. So, if you like frustration and don't like your credit score (and want drive it lower), this is the place for you.

I had an appointment today at the rehab center to speak with a nutritionist and even though she was a really nice lady she offended me when she asked me if I wanted the meal plan in spanish. I spoke to her solely in English. When i told her I prefer English she says to me "oh you must be from here". Like what the hell. Smh. I couldn't believe she said that. So I kept my cool and rushed through the rest of the appointment. I won't be seeing her anymore.

I used the JFK outpatient physical therapy center for 3 months starting June this year. Now the bills have started coming in mail and I am shocked. I tried calling the billing department - each time, I got forwarded to a 'biller' who never returns my calls. The PT session is for 30 minutes and by the time the therapist gets started with you and then makes notes at the end, it really is only 25 minutes. I was offered heat packs before or after the session and I graciously accepted -- little did I know that the 5 minutes of heat pack will be billed to me at $64 per session. So effectively, for each 25 min of PT + 5 min of heat pack, they charged me $322!! What a scam! I will never go there again and never recommend anyone to this facility - they are out to fleece you.

I had heard so many wonderful things about pulmonary rehab and was so looking forward to this. I was terribly disappointed by the program at JFK. They may be great for other types of physical therapy but not pulmonary rehab. Not once did I meet with a respiratory therapist. Except for 1 meeting with a nutritionist there was no education. Rehab consisted of rotating between 1 of 4 exercise machines while a cardiac nurse sat at a desk monitoring everyone's O2 and heart rate. There was no stretching, no strength exercises, no breathing exercises, no respiratory therapists.
