List of Mazen S. Itani Md's Reviews
The worst doctor ever. And that includes one who was sued for malpractice after the patient died. How many surgeons release a patient without going over procedure, limitations, treatment. It has been 3 days and the doctor had still not called to discuss or prescribed antibiotics for invasive surgery. Will be serving legal papers shortly.
He answered questions well and was very kind and professional
Very punctual, on time courteous nurse very friendly and helpful
Excellent doctor compassionate and very good bedmanners
very well satisfied very courteous physician excellent surgeon gets the job done
Horrible, just horrible. After waiting all morning for my assigned surgeon for emergency surgery, he never showed up to meet him much less explain what was being done to me. He showed up 15 minutes before being wheeled into the OR. He had the nerve to bill me 15K to lance an abscess. Then 2K to visit me post-op. I never saw the guy afterwards. He was out of network and just nailed me for an 18,000 dollars. DO NOT ALLOW THIS GUY anywhere near you if you go to Newton Medical Center...he is a piece of garbage.
Dr. Itani showed up in the emergency room told me "they" asked him to see me because I needed emergency Gall Bladder surgery. He misled me by telling me he was the surgeon on duty but did not mention he was not an employee of Atlantic Health and he was not in network for any insurance. He then billed me for $24,000 and the woman from his office told me to yell at my insurance company. To date he has received $14,400 from my insurance and still sent me a bill for $4555. On June 1, 2018 Governor Murphy signed into law bill 2018, C 32 which prohibits out of network providers from collecting any deductibles or copays in excess of the allowance for an in network provider of your health plan. He also told my family I had cirrhosis of the liver which I don't. You can imagine the effect this had on my family and I. My advice is to avoid Dr. Itani if at all possible. I would have given 0 stars but it wouldn't post.
ER Dr at our local hospital called in to lance and drain an infection! was with us 15 minutes we asked if he took our insurance he got pissy after that and said he accepts what they pay! Wrong He billed us 350 times the normal charge for a simple surgery! $350.00 is normal he charges $6000.00 Insurance paid him $1184.00 he wants it all~! He has a long history of ripping people off! Works out of Newton Hospital and hackettstown! Refuse his services leave if you can and go to better Dr!
Lurks in emergency rooms and assists in procedures and with limited insurance acceptance. He then overcharges insurance companies (5x reasonable and customary per Fairhealth pricing) and BALANCE BILLS for the balance which is beyond ruthless. He plays the system and truely a human being that i would suggest avoiding if at all possible (i had no choice/called in to assist emergency surgery) BEWARE BALANCE BILLING
Balance billing scammer! ER visit insurance paid allowed amount He billed 355 Times the approved Medicare rate and we were not told he was out of network at an in network ER! Ask before going to him!~ Newton NJ ER!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
