I saw Dr. Matthews for a colonoscopy. Since this was my first time having this procedure done, I was a bit nervous. Dr. Matthews explained everything and eased my anxiety. His team was also great, from getting an appointment and follow up care. Highly recommend Dr Matthews.

Dr. Matthews treated me for Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), very effectively. I am still on medication for it, that addresses the problems that I have. Dr. Matthews explains things quickly in medical terms, and a patient might miss part of that explanation, but I think he's an excellent doctor. I had a colonoscopy done once as a precaution for colon problems and an upper GI endoscopy done 2x to determine and address the state of my Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD). Each of the 3 medical procedures went smoothly, without any post-procedure repercussions. He additionally diagnosed me with IBS for which I receive medication, as well. The nurses and staff were excellent, also, as was Dr. Matthews. I would recommend him to other patients for the diagnosis and relief that he was able to provide. He is first rate.

I was very pleased with Dr Matthews and his nursing team. I went to see him for a colonoscopy. I found him personable, he answered my questions, and outlined what would happen. I would recommend him and the team.

Dr. Matthews is one of the most informative, empathetic and sincere specialists I have encountered in my 66 years. This doctor cares greatly about about individuals under his care and makes you feel, you are the only individual under his supervision. If you are looking for a physician who specializes in gastrointestinal conditions, Dr. Matthews is who to see. My experience with this physician does not remotely match other reviews.

This doctor has serious issues! I had a procedure done at a local hospital and this doctor never came to speak to me after ! In my discharge papers to take home he placed a document stating I had a certain stomach illness which the next day I called his office and spoke to this doctor and was told I don’t have this illness it was for insurance reasons and I asked why didn’t he come and explain his findings after I woke up and he stated I did but you don’t remember!! I took my complaints to the hospital and this doctor told the head cheese of this hospital he had no time to speak to me and gave this head cheese a fake findings of what he seen! Now my pathology test came back normal and no illness that this doctor claimed that I had that he put in my discharge papers to take home. Stay away from this doctor because he’s not right! Something isn’t right with him! The same day as my procedure I was getting ready to go home the poor discharge nurse had to go back and forth to him to get my questions answered because he couldn’t be bothered with me yet he told the head cheese doctor of the hospital he had no time to speak to me but made my discharge nurse go back and forth to him as he was eating lunch to answer my questions from the procedure!! In my experience and my opinion he is prejudice due to my insurance and low income ! Treated less then and garbage!

I went to Dr Matthews for a colonoscopy. He was very professional and informative during the interview and performed the procedure very well. There was no discomfort and the results were immediately communicated to myself and my wife who transported me. I found the entire staff to be competent. They made me feel at ease and confident in their skills. I will use this group again.

This doctor is rude and arrogant and doesn't remember what he's treating you for ! He has zero time for you as a patient especially if he's preformed procedures at the hospital then lies to you that he has spoken to you but to sedated to remember he tells patients! Every patient after having a procedure goes to recovery then gets dressed when fully alert then speaks to the patient which this doctor doesn't because he has no time and lunch is calling him ! He miss diagnosed me with another illness putting handouts regarding an illness he made up with my paper work to take home which he admitted I don't have for false reasons so my insurance would cover the scoping of my stomach which he found nothing but took pieces of tissue and sent it to the lab which I have documentation from him to prove ! Waiting for the results and if nothing I will seek outside advice on how to proceed he's extremely unprofessional and toxic

He is really unkind and saucy manner as a doctor!! Please do not make an appointment with him!!

I had a procedure done with Dr. Matthews this week. It was my first time seeing a GI and using the Hunterdon healthcare facilities. Dr. Matthews was very thorough, and proactive in asking questions. He made me feel comfortable. His professionalism and willingness to spend time to listen/discuss were on display throughout the process. It was a very pleasant experiece and certainly exceeded my expectation.

I was very pleased with Dr. Matthews. He took care of my problem and explained everything thoroughly. I definitely will recommend him to other people.
