Thomas A. St. John's Online Review Report Card

I saw Dr. St. John twice for the same issue. Both times I felt rushed and dismissed after waiting over 45 minutes each time for him to come into the office only to spend about 90 seconds with me. I had questions that I never asked because he made me feel like he needed to get out the door. Both times I went to ask him something and he already had his hand on the door to leave. When you wait over 45 minutes to see a doctor you would at least expect them to spend A fair amount of time with you. I don’t expect a doctor to sit with me for an hour discussing something but enough time that you feel heard and cared for. I didn’t feel that with Dr. St. John. He is part of my Jersey Orthopedics and I have seen other doctors there as well as every other member of my family and the other doctors I’ve seen a wonderful and make you feel cared about and heard I just didn’t get that with Dr. St. John

I have seen other doctors at mid Jersey Orthopedics which is weird Dr. St. John is affiliated. Every doctor I’ve seen or my family has seen here has made you feel heard and cared about. Both times I met with Dr. St. John I felt dismissed. Each visit I waited at least 45 minutes for him and spent a total of 90 seconds each time. The first visit I was asking a question and he got up and put his hand on the door knob. I felt like he was just anxious to leave and wasn’t taking my pain or concerns seriously. I was trying to explain what led up to what was going on with me and I just didn’t feel heard. I felt like despite the fact that I waited so long to see him he wanted to go. I don’t expect any doctor to spend an hour with me but at least enough time were you feel like they completely understand what you’re saying and how you’re feeling and tear in our compassionate. I didn’t get that from Dr. St. John as I’ve gotten with other doctors in that practice

Great doctor. After three years no other doctor could not find problem dr. St john found problem and corrected it.

After waiting an hour I was blessed with a minute of his time. He told me exactly what he said the first time I met him - time for an MRI. Why couldn't I call and say hey I'm still in pain- oh yea he doesn't make money then. Had an MRI and now you may NOT get the results until you see him- guess he needs the money. He loves to milk you for everything he can

Dr Thomas St.John,MD is a wonderful doctor!! I have been a patient of Dr Thomas St.John for at least 5 years. Now saying that Dr.St.John has helped so much more than any other Doctor has in my past! Now saying that I'm still having on going issues but he's trying to make them more bearable than before!! Since I have severe chronic problems again he's an amazing Doctor that actually listens to patients and give them chance to make-up there own mind!! Only thing is that he such a great Doctor some times there could be a wait,but that goes with many Doctors office's and more so for the best ones. I hope this helps you make a good decision. Dr. St. John is exceptional. He spends enough time with his patients to fully understand their situation. He is kind, compassionate and has excellent bedside manner. I have seen him in both an office setting and in the surgical unit. Highly recommend!

Hello Chronic Pain Suffers: Please note I suffered from chronic pain for years. I was ping-ponged to many different doctors who were unable to help me or didn't believe me because my MRI & X-Ray results didn't support my level of pain. Dr. Thomas St. John is an amazing affable doctor and human being. Caring, compassionate and a good listener. Let me not forget a TOP SURGEON!! He is everything you want and need in a doctor and surgeon!!! Before, my Sciatic nerve fusion, I cried constantly and became severely depressed. Then GOD lead me to Mid-Jersey Orthopedics and Hunterdon Medical Center and Hospital. Dr. St. John and Dr. Salam (entire team of doctors and staff) listen to me - treated me with respect! Not, to play the race card. But, I am a African American female whose MRI didn't warrant the amount of pain I was in. I suffered for years, because some (not all) my former doctor's didn't believe me nor was I always treated respectfully. One doctor went as far to tell me, "that I would be in this pain for the rest of my life" because of my test results or lack thereof. Thank God for doctor's like Dr. St. John, Dr. Salam and Dr. Pandya who listened, examined and treated me based on my level of pain and there level of expertise AND use of technological advances - as it continues to evolve. I will be forever grateful!! Dr. St. John thank you for a very minimum scar that is easily hidden by a pair of bikini's 😄. I did say, I was a female. LOL Blessings & Thank you ALL❣ Georganna

I highly recommend Dr St. John. From day one he answered every question, he was attentive and very empathetic. I had a total hip replacement in late January and I am now pain free for the first time in over a year and a half. Dr St. John answered every question from day one and put myself as well as my family at ease before my surgery as well as right after. It is rare to find a Dr that makes you feel validated and important, and truly listens to you and calms your fears. I wish I could give more than 5 stars.

After being diagnosed with AVN in January of 2019, my right hip deteriorated fairly quickly. As an avid runner, obstacle race runner I thought this would end all that. I tried to get every rotation out of my bad hip running up to about 1 week prior to surgery. Had my surgery with Dr St John with his anterolateral approach at end of June 2019. The support from the staff and the surgery went smoothly. Everyone was very helpful from Pre-op testing, set-up to in the hospital and helping to set up PT Of course Dr St John told me the conventional thinking that the hip would wear out quicker if I run. But as long as I knew the risks I could physically. Up to me. Likely my 30-40 year “warranty” would run out in 20. My view is I rather have 15-20 years doing what I love, staying fit and healthy and getting revision at 70. Versus having regrets, be out of shape and having a riskier revision at 80-90. I was running again 5 1/2 weeks later. Averaging 45 miles a week from September through now. 5K races, 1/2 trail marathon, 4 Spartan races, 1 marathon, 1-50 mile race and numerous virtual races. It has been an amazing 1st year with about 1900 miles running since surgery. It was not all easy. Lots of hard work from physical therapy, exercise and patience. Don’t give up on your goals, work hard and hopefully they come for you as well. I realize per Dr St John that I am not average result and I feel lucky and blessed. But a lot of that is the great dr and support I got

Not only is Dr. St. John a true professional he is also a caring and kind doctor. He takes his time when explaining the surgical process, recovery and danger signs. I felt he was as vested in my recovery and care as I was. On the day of surgery, he was also kind and reassuring to my wife that the surgery had gone well and took the time to explain the next steps as I returned home. In this day, it is not unusual to feel rushed while at your doctor's appointment however, this is NOT the case wit Dr. St. John. He is willing to take the time to address any/all questions you may have and to not make you feel like you are not imposing on his time. Hopefully, we will not need Dr. St. John's services in the future however, if need be, I would NOT hesitate to use Dr. St. John again.
