dr. abkin completed my surgery four years ago. after the surgery my life went downhill but not because of the surgery. moving forward I went to see Dr. abkin for a letter for skin surgery. I was treated very rude by him because I hadn't had a follow up visit. he also insulted my daughter. he kept cutting me off and didn't give me a chance to speak at all he was very rude and I have it on video. surgery skills was OK people skills zero

Dr. Abkin dismissed me early on after surgery after I came in with complaints of complications. He didn't say a word at our visit, his office sent me a Certified letter! Come to find after being gravely ill and many inpatient hospital stays, that Dr Abkin cut my Vagus nerve when he did my Gastric Bypass. I am permanently nauseous for which I must take medication daily in order to eat, if I don't vomit anyway. I have been suffering for 7 years thanks to him. Many doctors have treated me with every test, medication, diet change and nothing has worked. I am still being hospitalized on a regular basis. I am still very sick. All because Dr. Abkin made a mistake/error. Now I have to go to a specialized clinic in Philadelphia for my condition because there is no one in NJ that can take care of me properly. So I can look forward to regular trips to Philadelphia for many years, possibly life as I may be getting what is called a Gastric Pacemaker, to try to undo what Dr. Abkin did to me. I can't believe all these people saying how he saved their lives. Well he ruined mine. There has to be more than just me. I really wish someone would come forward.

I started my weight loss surgery process with Dr. Jawed in the Summer of 2021, after he was highly recommended by a friend. My start weight was 324 lbs. My surgery was 10/11/21, and today 1/19/2022, I am down 69 pounds in just 3 months! The entire office staff at Advanced Laparoscopic is helpful and kind. Dr. Jawed explains everything thoroughly throughout the entire process and provides helpful feedback at follow up appointments. I highly recommend working with him!

I would highly recommend Dr. Abkin & Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeons in Florham Park. I started my bariatric journey with another surgeon. That surgeon pulled me around for 9 months, never gave me a surgery date, always put the goal post further and further. After 9 months of jumping through hoops, I gave Dr. Abkin’s office a call. I provided him with all of my progress from the previous surgeon, and he was delighted to give me a surgery date. After reviewing my records & meeting with me, he finally gave me a surgery date which I had long awaited. Dr. Abkin is an excellent surgeon & I have healed perfectly and feel amazing. His staff is not only friendly but incredibly knowledgeable & very willing to answer any questions. From the scheduling department, to billing, & the front desk, every single person was very helpful and kind. I’m so glad I made the switch to Dr. Abkin & his team.

I had gastric bypass surgery in 2011 with a different surgeon/practice, unfortunately I regained almost all the the weight I’ve had lost. When I reached out I was told they do not accept my new insurance and I was out of luck... after much research for revision surgery and a few consultations I found the office of Dr. Jawed. They didn’t turn me away, like others did (because the original surgery was with a different surgeon). They welcomed me with open arms. Dr. Jawed, Lynda, Pat, Paige, and Matt were great in helping me get through the entire process flawlessly. In less than 3 months I was able to have revision surgery of my gastric bypass. Today, a year later I can say I’ve lost almost 100lbs and I’m 15 lbs away from my goal weight. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to a fresh start.

Had to create a new profile to update my review... 9 months later...still no communication from the office. Received an EOB yesterday that the claim was correctly submitted and paid on 9/16. You would think this would prompt an apology from the office or billing rep that could have avoided this last year and an eager attempt to schedule my missed appointment ..but no. I have also been mysteriously removed and blocked from the online support group. Nice. Again...seems retaliatory and petulant. Thank goodness the hospital has their own group. Make sure to join that one. Still hoping for the office to do the decent and proper thing by apologizing for the error and contacting me to make this right. We shall see. My primary physician has had to review my 6 months labs as this office refused to allow me to make an appointment. I am also still owed a $40 refund of nutritional copay that was fully covered by insurance but charged anyway. Advice to potential patients: be VERY CAREFUL with insurance and billing. Keep your own records and check everything. Again, I will update if there is new information.

I had gastric sleeve surgery performed with Dr Abkin 3 years ago and today I went to visit with him for my 3 year check up. I have lost a total of 103 pounds since I first went for my initial consultation with Dr Abkin. I no longer take any medications except vitamins as required. Dr Abkin is a wonderful doctor and person. Very caring and patient and listens to your concerns and answers all your questions. He literally has changed my life. I highly recommend anyone considering this surgery to please make an appointment to see Dr Abkin. Thank you so much!

Dr Abkin was amazing! Coming up on my 2nd year sleeve anniversary. Off all meds, apnea gone and blood sugar perfect. This surgery helped me be healthy again. Everyone from front desk, nutritionists and nurses were wonderful and caring. The classes they ran got me very prepared for the surgery. I highly recommend!
