List of Nathaniel Lebowitz's Reviews
Dr. Lebowitz was extremely helpful, when I needed On-Call doctor.
I moved to Illinois 8 years ago and come back to NJ for my appointments with Dr. Lebowitz. He saved and continues to save my life and my health. My cholesterol is great, I'm no longer diabetic, I've lost weight and I exercise. 15 years ago all of it was the opposite. He changed my life and showed me how. I wouldld follow him around the world.
This doctor does not return phone calls and blames everything on the front office and the fact that the practice is part of a hospital. My mother was having a terrible itchy reaction to medication he prescribed - we called on a Friday morning and he never called back. She suffered all weekend. Then next week I still had to pull teeth to get to him and when I finally did, he said to go to a dermatologist. She did and when the derm called Lebowitz to discuss, guess what? It took him 2 days to call back. UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!
Dr Leibowitz is a doctors doctor, a physician who truly is cutting edge in his approach to cardiology! His philosophy his to attack the symptoms before they become a problem! A doctor who takes the time to get to know his patients and takes the time to go over test results and explain there significance ! I am most pleased to have him as my doctor! A real human being as well as a top notch practitioner! Couldn’t be a happier patient! Go Nate
Great doctors
Poor wait time. Had to wait over an hour past the scheduled appointment time.
I’ve been seeing Dr. Lebowitz for 14 years. He’s an excellent cardiologist. He takes time out to discuss with you your issues with an emphasis in living with heart disease and on cardiac disease prevention. Over the years he’s done much to help me keep my arteries clean. Strong emphasis on being “heart smart,” clean eating, exercise, and in keeping a medical regiment, especially if you’ve already had a heart attack. Highly recommended.
It would be very difficult to find a cardiologist who is as competent, caring and responsive to my medical needs as Dr Lebowitz. His knowledge and care of my heart are only matched by the size of the care and love in his heart for his patients. He treats me as I were his only patient. I have coronary artery disease and have met with 6 cardiologists before settling on Dr Lebowitz. He is the best!
Dr. is lacking in punctuality and professionalism. He talks a good game and is knowledgeable, but appears marginally concerned about his patients from my own personal experience and this margin is getting wider each year (burnout?) Have heard stories of him being 3 hours late and then apologizing profusely. Often fails to follow-up in providing lab prescriptions, not writing the prescriptions on time, resulting in a patient arriving for a lab with no lab prescription completed, which can result in no lab being done if the doc is not available. Even with established patients with repeat labs, he Likes to see the patient first, then order the labs in the appt., requiring two visits to get labs and feedback done when it could more efficiently be done in one visit where the patient gets face to face feedback on the labs. This results in additional billing cost and time, even though the labs are the same for each visit. He may review the lab without a visit, making a cursory analysis in 5 minutes, then handing it over to his secretary while you are there, not saying a word to the patient, thus depriving the patient of all those insights that others rave about. Often makes promises he cannot deliver such as promising to do something, e.g. write a prescription, then never doing it, not contacting the patient, and not informing his secretaries, who are usually in the dark as to what he is doing. He may be embarrassed by his neglect of the patient and would prefer to just avoid the issue. If you can get an appt. with the Dr., you will have to wait 4-6 months which appears to be consistent to his dilatory response to patient requests. These problems, delays, and failure to follow up have gotten worse over the years after the practice was purchased by Hackensack University Medical Center. He may be a good Dr. to some, but treatment delayed is treatment denied and ignoring patients is a guaranty this Dr. will have more urgent care patients in the future as he is less able to practice preventive medicine, At times his failure to contact a patient and answer an inquiry by phone or in person in the office is grossly unprofessional and counterproductive to being a health provider. About half the time, he fails to return after hour calls when he is the on-call Dr., unless you are about ready to head out to the ER or having a crisis. No preventive or proactive medicine here, so be skeptical about what you hear. Buyer beware. If you are looking for a Dr. who will be there for you and not ignore you, look elsewhere. Medical care delayed is healthcare denied. This review is only for this Dr. and does not apply to other Drs. in the practice. Good luck.
Very thorough in his diagnosis, Takes the time to listen to the patient and provides detailed analysis of your condition. Ten stars in my ledger.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
