I had both hips replaced by Dr. Herbert J. Cooper. He is one of the kind!! I saw him three times and each time he made me feel special like nobody else is in the waiting room. I cannot remember when was the last time I felt like that… not being rushed and being listened to. Doesn’t matter if you have 3 or 30 questions he will answer them all. Dr. Cooper is calm, patient, humble, and confident (love that combination). He exudes passion about what he does and he is genuine when he speaks to you. I am very happy that I chose him to do the surgery I will give him 6 stars out of 5:))) Each time I had to see him the waiting time was less than 15 minutes (very rare these days and it doesn’t matter if you have an appointment ) If I had any non emergency medical questions I emailed them to the Dr. and I received answers within an hour! This is amazing because my experience with other doctors when I had non emergency medical question was usually 1-3 business days. If every doctor’s work ethic was like Dr. Cooper then patients would feel sun on cloudy rainy days. Thank you! Sincerely, Ilona Guenard

Very rude and unprofessional stuff, Did not mention that we had to come in 1 hour in advance. We came in and they said that they have to go home soon and will not wait for us even though it took us about 3 hours to get to them and doctor knew that my mom, who is 74, had a problem with her hip and spine.

Very thorough with explanation of care and treatment. I was so please with the bed side manners and the respect of listening to the patient concerns. Dr. Cooper and his assistant are very caring people. Thank you so much for taking the time to make your patients comfortable and calm.

I'm very happy with my decision to have my hip replacement surgery with Dr. Cooper at Columbia. He performed an "anterior" type surgery, and my recovery took all of nine days before I was back at work. I regret hesitating so long to move forward with the surgery. His staff was excellent and he took great care of me. An upmost professional. I can't imagine this going smoother.

My husband recently had aneurysm surgery and Dr. Cooper is absolutely great. I can’t say enough about his professionalism, and his quality of care. He explained everything and even after my husband came home from the hospital, he called him and gave us his cell number in case we needed him. I was apprehensive about traveling an hour from our home to have Dr. Cooper take care of him but it was the BEST thing we did! Not only is he an awesome, caring doctor ....he is an awesome person! Thank you Dr. Cooper!

Twice over the past six months I was immobilized in bed with excruciating pain in my right knee. The first orthopedist I saw took X-rays, gave me a shot of cortisone, but failed to diagnose the underlying cause. After the pain returned I made an appointment with Dr. Cooper. Further X-rays and an MRI revealed two pea-sized bone fragments behind my knee-cap. He removed them arthroscopically and I was discharged from hospital a few hours later with minimal discomfort. The treatment and care I received at Columbia Presbyterian hospital was outstanding. Dr. Cooper fully deserves his 5-star rating.

Dr. John Cooper. If you need a hip replacement and you live in New York City, those are the only three words that matter. He's truly the best. He replaced my left hip in 2017. Recovery took all of 12 days. When my right hip started hurting, I didn't wait nearly as long before coming back to him to have that one fixed too. The second result was even better, and I was back at work after a week. My co-workers were so shocked to see me back, they thought I had changed my mind and not gone through with the surgery!

I am so grateful for Dr.Cooper taking care of my dad and pulling him through his tough time .Very pleasant and happy to help people who need his services. What a great man and doctor.
