I have been a patient here for many years now, and I have been very pleased with my care and how I have been treated-- Until the other day. I was scheduled to see, Julienne Kala, who I had not seen before. This lady was so very rude, obviously hateful and seemed to have a huge chip on her shoulder. She claimed my pill count was short I knew she was a liar!), so the next day (I had to go straight home after my appt because my sitter for my grandchildren couldn't stay any longer), I returned to request my pills be counted by someone else and the correct number of pills were there as I knew would be and as they should have been. Ms Kala reported her lie to whomever would be in charge to discharge me as a patient!! I am 65 years old, had a stroke 11 months ago, have had a few hypertensive crisis needing to call 911 for an ambulance to get me to the hospital. Im raising my grandchildren all by myself because my daughter died and these children need me to stay alive!! The Ms Kala has now caused me to be without any pain management care and after 20 years on prescribed pain control, I have NO doctor. I pray to Father God if I die from what she has done to me (withdrawal), my family brings a lawsuit against Ms Julienne Kala and the entire office in Hagerstown.
When they tell you to be there 30 minutes prior to your appointment time they mean it.
I was in the office this afternoon with a family member for their appointment. And I heard one of the girls at the front getting loud and aggressive while on the phone and my attention was grabbed, she was yelling "How do you know the girl who hung up on you is black? Why can't she be just one of the girls up front hung up on you?" Then slammed the phone down. Another girl who stood behind her while on the phone started laughing and said something along the lines of "yea, I hung up on her too." They both laughed and laughed clearly enjoying the fact they hung up on someone out of frustration, and from what they were saying it wasnt the first time they hung up on someone because the person on the phone was upset or they wouldn't have called. And saying things like, they would hang up on her again. And calling her very nasty names and calling her a stupid B word. While watching the interactions they asked the other girl to call her and get her scheduled. I couldn't hear what she was saying because she was on the other side of the reception desk but it seemed to be a pleasant interaction with her. I am going to be talking with my family member to push for another pain office. And filing a complaint with their HR department. Especially if we can expect to be hung up on by people when we call for help. Its a shame because the doctors there are great. But with reception being the first contact to an office I would have expected more polite, professional, kind, and understanding people to be the face of an office, and to be talked about that way behind your back. That is completely unacceptable! They need to do better.
This office has become the worst. There are a couple of employees there that keep talking politics and how they wish our president would be assassinated. We support our president. Now when we walk up to the counter there are a couple that walk away from us and refuse to work with us. This isn't the first concerning things. Multiple times we have heard employees celebrating political assassinations and talking about how they wish it was the president. This hasn't been a one time thing. I take great issue with a doctors office that would let their employees speak like this. What happened to do no harm and do your best to help someone in need. They are literally celebrating a murder and wishing it was another person. And now on top of it some of their employee's who don't like our politics are refusing to even help us. They would prefer us to not come there and see us in serious pain. This is a serious issue. I think we will be following in the foot steps of another patient that left a review and looking for a new doctor. This is completely unacceptable. And google seems to be removing reviews that dont follow thier agenda. This makes me wonder how long this will last and how many others have been hidden. I also notice that the office must have fought to have that review taken down as I no longer see it and they have done nothing to fix the issue. Unless you want to have to hide your beliefs I cannot recommend going to this doctor's office. Its pretty obvious they only want to help you if you agree with everything they think.
Literally the worst place in Hagerstown for pain management unless you like getting the meds that you need
Terrible: After having to wait 2 weeks for an appointment, by this time I could not walk without extreme pain... crawling to the bathroom each morning till I could straighten up...They told me I had to wait about 2 more weeks to get clearance for a shot in my back, even tough I offered to pay out of pocket. I went to another surgeon, VSI Dr Haines in Reston, VA (only took one day for an appointment). He gave me a prescription of Gabapentin immediately and the next day I could walk with no pain.
Been going to NSPC for a long time. I moved and changed location to Hagerstown. I really liked the whole experience. However, I changed the pharmacy the same day as my appointment not thinking the Dr wouldn't see it until it was posted. Of course my meds were sent to the pharmacy at the state I just moved from. The Dr is not in and no one can fix it until Monday. Unfortunately I will have a problem before then. I was just feeling stable for the first time in 2 years. No one is at fault, however no one can do anything with the meds for 4days. I'm 66 and really not cool
I just started going there the past 2months. Let me say these ladies and Dr P have been amazing with me. As patients, we sometimes forget how it is on their end. They are not the pharmacist nor the insurance companies. They don’t have a magic wand to wave of what will or won’t be covered, however they do what they can to get authorization for medications. If you have a great approach with understanding, they give the same back to you. I’ve had several instance issues and they have gone above and beyond to try and get different medications for me. Tahnee has been amazing every conversation and I just want to say I see you and appreciate your efforts!
As I sat here reading all the reviews, I really like how on the bad reviews they state something about health privacy laws. I work for a major insurance company and there is nothing that violates HIPAA laws when it comes to how AWFUL the practice is with not returning calls or if they do, no voicemail is left. I cannot begin to tell you the horror stories I have had with this practice for the past 10 years. I have ran out of medication several times. I was told that my urine screening came back with something other than my prescribed medication only to find that it was not mine but another patients that was attached to my profile. In order to get my meds, i had to do another screening which cost me another $150.00. Recently the scheduling of my appts were set up way past the 28 to 30 days. My February appt was on 2/10/25, March appt was scheduled for 3/17/25. When I called in saying that I needed to reschedule, they told me that I wasn't on the schedule for March. I then asked for a bridge gap and was told they would have to talk to my provider. I got a call back during my work hours which I couldn't answer and of course NO voicemail left. Still no call as of today even after several more calls to the practice and no refills sent to the pharmacy. Strangely enough, this morning I got an appt reminder for April 14th. Anyone see what is wrong with this picture??? I strongly advise people to find some other pain management facility other than the NSPC in Hagerstown MD.
Went in for a second opinion. Instead of looking at my MRI and other images they only went off other neurosurgeon notes. What was the point of second opinion... Only pushed for injections like first surgeon because of his notes. Absolutely wasted my time. Had me sign all kinds of pain documentations, and opioid contract, then says they only do injections and muscle relaxers and anti inflammatories. Do not waste your time. Dr park does not want to help you at all.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
