List of Joseph A. Smith's Reviews
I live in Jacksonville Florida now and my daughter whom I took to Dr. Smith over 30 years ago for her care came down with a strange group of symptoms I was very nervous about because the main problem was peculiar bruising all over her legs and arms. I think her daycare thought we were bruising her at home. The good Doc knew better and brought in many to see her and diagnose her. She was sent to the hospital for tests, he was accurate in his diagnosis of some form of purpura. This was treated and recovered to never happen again. I was warned it could be serious and thankfully it was caught early by a young bright doctor. My daughter is now a mom herself and I will never forget the kindness and intelligence of Dr. Smith.
I've been a patient of Dr. Joe for almost 20 yrs. since moving to Somerset. Dr. Joe has a great bedside manner, he is easy to talk to and is very knowledgeable. He always takes the time needed to address all issues from questions to test results. You may have to wait sometimes but I never mind waiting because I know Dr. Joe will spend the extra few minutes with his patients if needed. I'd worry more about seeing a doc that had an empty office with no wait!
Dr. Smith spends alot of time with his patients so although he frequently runs behind, when i am in the room with him he is very thorough and spends time explaining my lab results and answering my questions. It is well worth the wait to see him!!!
I've waited 1.5 hr for Dr. Smith. He insists to avoid the wait, you should book his first appt of the day or call ahead to see how backed up he is. Then the front office roll their eyes and insist there are no "first appointments" available. I would not recommend anyone to this doctor or group. Very poorly run office with bad attitudes - I often hear them talk negatively about patients who are not there or on hold on a phone call. The lab techs, very rude. Somehow, the nurses are all very nice.
I've been seeing him for years. very through.
Dr Smith takes his time to talk with me about all my concerns and I do not feel rushed like I have with other doctors. He is always behind schedule but I feel comfortable with him and am willing to wait to have a little extra time with him to discuss my issues.
I can usually get appointments to see somebody in his group without much trouble for emergencies. To see Dr. Smith I plan in advance for the appointment. Dr. Smith runs late for his appointments, but I find it is worth my time to wait and see him because he takes the time to talk to me about my health issues and doesn't limit me to just a question or two.
Dr Smith is an incredible Dr. He helped me with anxiety and depression. He does run late so you may have to wait because he likes to take his time with the patients
Rushed my appointment. Told me he had 22 patients that night and I was only his 2nd one so he didn't have time for me and I could make another appointment. This was after he spent a total of 2 minutes talking to me and cutting me off at my concernes. Openly admitted to being a spokeperson for a drug that he kept trying to push on me without any other alternatives or explanation. Very frustrating, very unprofessional. Did not listen to my symptoms at all and my insurance I'm sure paid a good amount for him to just blow me off and tell me he did not have time for me. I think the entire appointment lasted about 5 minutes. And I presented with neck pain and dizziness/almost fainting and he did not seem concerned at all instead tried loading me up on some anti-depressant he markets. BEWARE
He doesn't rush your appointment, therefore he tends to run behind on his schedule which can be frustrating. I find he is worth the extra waiting time to get all the answers and proper treatment.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
