As a new patient she allowed me to explain all my issues for 20 minutes. She asked a lot of questions and was genuinely interested in everything I had to say. Best primary care visit ever! I felt seen and heard!
She works for Visiting Physicians now. Truly one of the worst doctors I’ve ever met. If you want a doctor to actually care about your loved one, pass on this one. She shouldn’t even have a medical license anymore. She doesn’t care about her patients. She’s the crankiest, with THE worst bedside manner I’ve ever come across. I know it sounds like one persons bad experience..nope. Many people talk about her. She’s a well-known dragon lady across the field. Patients, social workers, nurses. They all have bad things to say about her.
The patients of Dr. Bessen benefit not only from her medical education but also from years of practice. She had been able to help me understand pros and cons of my treatment so that we make informed decision based on her recommendation. Dr. Bessen takes the time to listen, examine and, if needed, administer treatment.
Dr Bessen cared for my Mother over a long period of time. Dr Bessen was wonderful. We couldn’t have hoped for a better doctor. Dr Bessen always showed my Mother respect and understanding. Dr Besser handled her and her myriad issues with keen attention and compassion. I read a previous review about Dr Bessen that criticized her for not being promptly on time. I think, perhaps, that the patient and family didn’t understand how stressful and packed the ASR’s schedule is. She travels all over NJ trying to accommodate every patient’s schedule. It’s complicated. AND, when she meets with a patient, she never rushes through her visit. She’s attentive and patient and kind and fun. You’d never know that, upon leaving her last patient, she yet has a 45 minute drive home to her own family. Dr Bessen is a treasure.
I thoroughly enjoyed my first office visit with Dr. Bessen. I felt she was thorough in her questioning and review of my medical history, asked all the right questions of me. Very comfortable practice environment with a super medical staff who made me feel right at home.
This is the most frustrating of doctors that I have ever encountered, I am caregiver to my mother and I have spent the entire day trying to get help for her and have only received excuses and apologies. I called the nurse practitioner at 9 am and was told that an x-ray had been ordered for my elderly mother who had fallen at 4 am. After waiting for some confirmation I called back and I was to that the request had been made earlier, the nurse practitioner told me her mother had died and that she wouldn't be available after 12pm. I called the office at 12:30 and was toled to call the imaging company who said they just got the order after 12 pm. This has continued until they closed their phones afor 4 pm. The x-rays were taken at 2 pm and I was told that visiting physicians would receive the images within a half hour. When I called the office they said that they never received the images and would check on the images and call me back. Now they are closed and my mother is in pain and I have no idea what to do other than call 911.their license should be revoked.
my mother found out about this doctor through her advertising campaign for visiting nurses. since my mother has parkinson and can't get around, she needed someone who could come to the house. she prescribed the meds my mother needed, but overtime we need refills, it's a constant struggle between myself, my pharmacy and the doctor to renew the prescriptions. sometimes my mother has gone for as much as a week without having her meds, with every time, my pharmacy telling me how they try contacting the office 3 times, plus faxing twice. it's absolutely ridiculous.not to mention, the visiting nurse assigned to my mother, always argues about what time is more convenient for her to come, knowing full well that my mother cannot go to the door to let her in, and needs to come during a time when one of my mother's aids is in the house. i would never recommend this doctor or her services to anyone. i am hoping when i go to the parkinson's clinic next weekend, that i can find another service.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
