List of Douglas Grayson's Reviews
They want you to schedule cataract surgery the day you visit. I wanted to speak to my ophthalmologist about lens type choices, as I knew he would give me more time and explanation than Dr. Grayson appeared to be willing to offer. He clearly wanted to spend the minimum amount of time possible with me. After seeing my ophthalmologist and making the decision about lens type (different than what Dr. Grayson recommended), I was unable to schedule my surgery. I called and emailed repeatedly without receiving any replies. My cataracts' effect on vision is limited, so urgency is not an issue. I may still use Dr. Grayson, but for now will see if I can find another well-credentialed provider with time to explain and an office staff that is responsive.
I got absolutely nowhere trying to book an appointment with this man. I've known for years that I need cataract surgery. I've been told so by more than one eye doctor in other cities where I've lived over the past 5 years. I called Dr. Grayson's office to discuss insurance coverage and all I got was a bunch of BS from his receptionist about requiring certification from a general practitioner to the effect that I need cataract surgery. My insurance doesn't require a referral from a GP, yet Dr. Grayson's office wants his patients to pay a GP to see them before he will even let you into his office. There is a reason why he gets a 2.3 rating on this site. Don't even bother with this man. There are plenty of highly qualified eye surgeons all over the New York metro area. Dr. Grayson knows nothing about customer service. He should retire.
Definitely a factory approach. He did not explain not to move while doing a procedure. I would think a basic request. If you want a robotic & uncooperative dr.- go. Nurses were good to be fair. Tech prep guy wordless. DON’T.
You never get to see dr GrAlyson. My vision is worse after my cataract surgery than before. Would not recommend him to anyone
I'm writing this on behalf of my husband because I am so annoyed at how unprofessional and how horrible Dr. Grayson is. My husband has bad short term memory and I was not present at this appointment so he recorded it. The doctor was very short with his answers, my husband would ask a question he would say "Yup." He didn't explain anything to him at all. Suggested surgery, and my husband asked about risks and he said well i mean everything has risks. Yes I understand that but my husband has a lot of anxiety when it comes to his eyes from past trauma and that's not how you answer someone who deals with that. So at first my husband was going to get the surgery but I suggested the drops because the surgery might not even work and drops are the better route to go. Today he texts me at work and tells me the doctor called him today several days after his appointment to tell him he saw moderate damage to the optic nerve from the high pressure and he needs to start drops right away...hmm...you wouldn't think to mention that during his appointment, no he decided to wait a few days and tell him that. This guy is a joke and people should avoid him at all costs.
So, I have been told I needed cataract surgery; I am referred to this LOVELY facility; the issue was never the wait time; it was the fact that allegedly, Dr. Grayson performed the surgery, I never saw him; spoke to him or was even introduced; once i was given a date for surgery; I arrived on time; then I had to wait over 1:45 to wait for the procedure; while being placed in this pre-op room watching the other patients undergoing their surgeries; WOW! So when i am told it's my time; I am placed in a chair outside the operating room greeted by the Anesthiologist; I am told I will be in "Twighlight mode" I was knocked out; surgery is complete; rolled into another room where i sat for about 30 mins; then told my ride was there; the following day, another doctor does the post op exam; and examines THE WRONG EYE! Not one call from this Dr. Grayson, not even a greeting; I do not and would NEVER recommend anyone going to this facility...it's a MILL! whatever happened to professional courtesy, standard of care from a treating doctor; and to have the patients watch the procedures on other patients while they are waiting is horrible!!! And to have someone examine the wrong eye post OP!!!!
I absolutely don’t recommend this facility. It’s an eye factory mill. My father was told he needed cataract surgery in both eyes and they rushed to schedule his surgery. After a 2nd and 3rd opinion all he needs is to update his prescription glasses. He doesn’t have cataracts in his left eye at all and minimal in his right eye that doesn’t warrant any surgery!!!! Stay away from this place!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
