She is thorough, compassionate and a great listener. She addressed all my concerns. Validated my struggles and put me on a medication that changed my life. I wish I started treatment with her years ago.

When I failed to respond adequately to first line daily medications for anxiety Dr. Kousa thought it appropriate to prescribe mirtazepine - not mentioning that it's primarily used as an appetite stimulant. After six weeks I had gained about 15 lbs. I expressed concern but she insisted that it was just a temporary side effect and would level off. Since I was still a healthy weight I did not strongly object. Within 90 days I had gained TWENTY PERCENT of my body weight! I was shocked and appalled, and at that visit she expressed concern but said that since we were stopping the meds I should lose the weight quickly. When I was not able to lose a single pound, she suggested that it was probably my own fault - I remember she said "Have you tried taking a green tea supplement?" It's been several years and despite an active lifestyle and healthy diet I've been overweight ever since. The doctor never even apologized for causing this drastic and incredibly upsetting permanent change to my body.

Extremely thorough, knowledgeable, and a great listener, which is important. On a personal level, she's very kind and generous. Good help can be hard to come by, and everyone has their own preference, but know that you're in good hands with Dr. Awad.
