Amor Mehta's Online Review Report Card

When I say that Dr. Mehta saved my life, that is an understatement! I had been misdiagnosed by many other doctors over many years and Dr. Mehta was the 1st one to take a genuine interest in my case and take the time to carefully and thoughtfully figure out how to help me. From the moment you enter his office, it is very professional and clean. The atmosphere is very pleasant and makes you feel at ease. The staff is very kind and patient. Dr. Mehta truly cares about his patients. He has a wonderful bedside manner and is very knowledgeable. He took the time work with me when the rest of the medical community had written me off. He was very thorough with my initial diagnosis. No other doctor had ever taken such an interest in me, which brought us to my correct diagnosis of epilepsy. Since beginning treatment in December 2020, my life has turned around and I feel alive again! My symptoms have greatly improved! I also suffer with chronic neck pain and anxiety. Dr. Mehta connected me with an amazing physical therapist, counselor, anxiety medication and physiatrist to better my quality of life. I will be forever grateful to Dr. Mehta and his team!

My visit to Dr. Mehta was the result of a follow up from a neurosurgeon that found an incidental finding of a cavernoma. I’ve never had any symptoms associated with this condition. The visit to Mehta was recommended by my neurologist to rule out any potential seizures, though I’ve never had one. Firstly, Dr. Mehta himself took 0 time to ask me questions about why I was there and my entire previous medical history was based on a presumption. his overall attitude felt very demeaning. I tried multiple times to ask questions, to which he replied “You would need to take a course in neurology to understand the answer”, and the questions he did answer were grossly exaggerated. I know this because I obtained a second opinion from another board certified epileptologist who COMPLETELY disagreed with Dr. Mehta’s findings. The EEGs were re-evaluated with a completely different diagnosis. After A second EEG study was taken, Dr Mehtas findings were again unsupported. His bedside manner left a lot to be desired as I left his office feeling anxious and deflated. My recommendation is to get a second opinion!

I feel seen and heard at this office unlike many neurologists I've gone to. Tests, next steps, and your wellness journey is explained to you in such detail and no question is too small. Erin was a delight to work with and was completely present, compassionate, and had incredible bedside manner. I'm excited to move forward with them as someone who had always gotten "we don't know what's wrong with you," "your tests are abnormal but not conclusive," "come back when it's worse" while they see my quality of life now as important.

Dr. Mehta is truly a great doctor. I had spent years complaining of severe migraines and every doctor just told me it was from caffeine or nothing to worry about. It wasn't until he saw me that he discovered I actually have epilepsy and my migraines were a result of seizures. If you want a doctor that's going to actually listen to you and not brush off your symptoms as nothing, he's the man to see.

since they deleted my first comment here’s another. my experience at this facility was terrible to say the least. I went into this facility trying to get a second opinion and the doctor truly didn’t care. I have another neurologist but Dr. Mehta just prescribed me medicine anyway and told me I needed to be on the max dose and get another EEG after I had just completed 3 day test and brought results. After not feeling welcomed and more or less interrogated, and harassed to take another ambulatory EEG test to HIS liking, in HIS facility, I decided it wasn’t worth it. Since he was prescribing the same exact treatment as my other doctors. Just with more work FYI unlike anywhere else you have to pay per page to get your medical records from this guy. I will say, it is clean in there and Dr. Bre was nice and understanding, the only reason i added another star.

I had the same experience with Dr. Mehta that Aly had and posted under the other one star review. This Dr. Actually made me cry with how he spoke to me. Extremely demeaning and belittling. My experience was Identical; same diagnosis and all, down to the medication prescribed and how it was given. I did go to TWO other Drs and was told he was incorrect in his diagnosis. I am so grateful that I went to the other Drs. PLEASE get a second opinion before going on any medications.

My husband is the patient of Dr Mehta, when he had a stroke in February Dr Mehta, became his doctor, the Center is absolutely the best at what they do, Heather Black PA and Dr Mehta are a wonderful, they are very genuine and treat us with all the respect they have. We put all our faith in both Dr Mehta and Heather Black. Thank you for being so kind.

I have been under the care of Dr. Mehta for approximately 10 years. He is thee only neurologist who diagnosed me accurately (I had seen several neurologists prior). Dr. Mehta listens attentively to my questions, asks me questions as to how I’m feeling, and responds with honesty and genuine care. He has patience with his patients. Simply stated, I feel that Dr. Mehta has saved my life. His caring, professional ways and his kind staff as well as his state of the art facility are where you want to go for quality care.

(part 1) this review is well over due because i have been so upset for so long over this and i am finally at a place where i have forgiven this doctor and how he treated me. i simply want to share my experience for those who may have this same experience or who may encounter it in the future. while i realize that my experience is not the same as everyone else’s, i think it’s important for others to know that this facility is more than its high google rating so that they are not blindsided like i was. i want to start off by saying that i was misdiagnosed by dr. mehta and i’m grateful that i sought second and third opinions before following his direction. i was referred to a neurologist because i had an episode of left side numbness (it ended up being from herniated discs). when the appointment was made i didn’t realize that dr. mehta’s office was an epilepsy clinic until i got there for my appointment. there was never any question of me having epilepsy prior to this visit because i never had any sort of symptoms like this before experiencing my herniated discs along with the concurring severe trauma that i was going through at the time. this was all around july/august of 2021. the first thing dr. mehta asked was why i did not have the covid vaccine. when i explained to him that i had health anxiety and didn’t feel comfortable getting it he completely disregarded it and went on to say “this isn’t bill gates trying to depopulate america or whatever else is floating around”. following that he proceeded discussion about the vaccine for another 5 minutes or so. i thought it was really weird because that’s none of his business, that’s between me and my general practitioner and he’s a neurologist. i was absolutely not there for that. anywho, he seemed concerned by the symptoms i went in there for and given the state of my mental health and the severity of my health anxiety, i went through with his work up because i was scared. his arrogance convinced me that he knew what was best for me and that i was a danger to myself. i believe that dr. mehta is cookie cutter in the way he treats patients. every patient gets the same exact work up regardless of symptoms and how each test prior comes out. he diagnosed me with temporal lobe epilepsy with focal aware presentation. then he handed me a piece of paper that gave me the instructions on how to take the anti epileptic medicine he prescribed and then told me to come back when i was on the max dose. i again thought that was weird to do instead of taking time to explain the medication and monitoring me closely throughout the dose increases etc. i’m someone who is extremely sensitive and also doesn’t do well with medication (i.e. health anxiety) and that didn’t matter to him. as far as he was concerned i was to come back in 3 months once on the max dose.

(part 2 had to log on to my other email to post) during my video EEG i said something along the lines of “i don’t think i have epilepsy i don’t think a general neurologist would have referred me here” and of course dr. mehta was annoyed by that and had to say “just so you know i’m not a normal neurologist” inferring that he’s better than the average neurologist. he was extremely arrogant and made me feel scared, uncertain, and completely lost about all of this. a place i entered for help left me feeling helpless. something didn’t feel right about him, his work up or his diagnosis so i purchased my medical records at dr. mehta’s office (for $95 which is literally insane to me) and went to virginia to see the neurologist i grew up with who also knows my history. my doctor in virginia said it was anxiety related and so i did my best to get back to real life treating the problem as anxiety. he said that nothing on my EEG was of clinical significance. but the symptoms persisted so i said to myself, “okay maybe dr. mehta is correct”. at this point i was lost and confused because i had one yes for epilepsy and one no for epilepsy. and due to my health anxiety the not knowing made things worse. at that point i began my quest to get in with cleveland clinic to do a long term EEG for 5 days and to figure out the answer once and for all because they are the best in the country. and BOY am i glad that i listened to my gut instinct. i did a 5 day video EEG which captured my normal episodes with absolutely no abnormal EEG findings. they even reviewed doctor mehta’s testing and said that what he saw on the EEG was artifact and that there was nothing abnormal at all. between the 2 EEGs and MRI his interpretations were incorrect. days and days of monitoring with sleep deprivation and heightened symptoms and no abnormal findings for me! at this point im thanking God but also trying to process the magnitude of what i went through because of this doctor is hitting me. cleveland clinic works with an entire (large) team of neurologists, EEG interpreters, and psychologists before making a diagnosis so there are a lot of eyes on the tests to ensure no mistakes. after my days at cleveland clinic i was diagnosed with PNES (psychogenic non epileptic seizures), which are basically stress seizures which DO NOT STEM FROM ABNORMAL/EPILEPTIFORM IN THE BRAIN. this is all so scary because later on i learned that my fathers ex wife was misdiagnosed with epilepsy and ended up in the ICU with toxic levels of anti epileptic drugs in her system so thank you Jesus that i did not end up like that. it is terrifying to think that could’ve been me. all of this may be confusing but the moral of the story is to always seek a second opinion and to advocate for yourself when you don’t think that something is correct. although most of his staff is pleasant, dr. mehta did not treat me kindly as a patient, he misdiagnosed me, and arrogantly disregarded my feelings/wishes while at his facility. please consider all of this before placing your trust in this doctor.
