List of John W. Secoy's Reviews
No compassion for his patients at all!!! This guy is all about the money!!! Find another doctor!!!
Excellent, compassionate pain management.
Great Dr., he really knows his stuff. He takes his time and really cares about his patients. I recommend. :)
Over prescribes addictive medications. He has destroyed the lives of 3 people I know who see him for pain management. I am writing this review in hopes of helping others before it’s too late.
The receptionist tells me to call WellCare and complain that they are listed as a participating physician but don’t have any approvals. I call and confirm they are a participating Doctor. I switch my insurance to WellCare so I can see him. I called his office to confirm. No one answers the phone I left two messages no calls back. I keep calling and the Dr. finally answers and tells me he is not accepting new patients from WellCare. I wasn’t told that by the receptionist I before I wasted my time switching insurance and fighting their battle. Very unhappy with this Drs office.
Unusually good listener, careful examination, sensible recommendation. A standout.
I have a rare condition, Multifocal Motor Disorder and I have breakthroughs of intractable spasms and pain. Dr. Secoy is extremely knowledgable. He is also a well-respected anesthesiologist. He accepts Medicare and Medicare plans with certain insurance companies. Dr. Secoy is not, as some of the other reviews state, a "pill pusher." In fact, he always has valuable ideas about ways to deal with the pain that don't involve medication and he is inquisitive about my condition in general. This specialty is so hard right now. The state and federal regulators and all over patient records. The most common pain medications are the most suspect and many GP's and other specialists are not prescribing them at all, so patients with real pain have to seek pain management just to get anything beyond ibuprofen. I strongly recommend Dr. Secoy.
I have had a chronic condition for over 5 years which is debilitating to my overall quality of life and since becoming a patient I have never been treated so well by any other physician. Dr. Secoy makes time to return my calls after his office hours which no other doctor does now a day. His office staff make me feel like I am a priority which is really quite rare. I realize everyone is entitled to their opinion but not one of the off center reviews comes from the patient themselves. I have been to bad physicians since being diagnosed and this most certainly is the best physician and staff by far.
Dr. Secoy has been treating my father for back pain for many years by pumping him full of opioids and benzos. He is very very addicted at this point now going on 10 years of these medications and Dr. Secoy will not stop even though my father shows all the signs of addiction and his pain has increased because of it. What type of physician would prescribe someone Roxycodone, Percoset and Klonopin together, long term? These drugs cause fatal interactions and wreak havoc on a persons body and mind. By no means are they helping. I am writing this review because I want to warn others about the dangers of seeing a pain mgt. doctor such as Dr. Secoy.
Excellent Caring & Ethical, Pain ManagementMD. The very best in Northern, NJ.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
