List of Sean C. Lalin Md's Reviews
Dr. Lalin is a reckless, sloppy doctor/surgeon who runs his office like an assembly line and his priority is profit. He did cataract surgery in both my eyes. Never was I offered a document to record what outcome I wanted from my surgeries. I told Lalin that I wanted good close-up vision to read books, websites without glasses. Instead, he claimed I told him I wanted good distance vision without glasses. My 2 visits pre-surgery were rushed and Lalin didn't explain to me what a cataract is, that an implant lens would replace the lens with the cataract that had to be removed or that I had a variety of lens choices. He only discussed monofocal lenses. In 1 surgery Lalin implanted the wrong power lens in my left eye. I was shocked that I had good distance vision but completely blurry near vision. I confronted him post-surgery. He didn't apologize, show any regret, and claimed that his notes said I requested good distance vision. Avoid Lalin - he's untrustworthy and your vision is precious!
Never again!
The gold standard of eye care in the Morristown area. The highest degree of professionalism, awesome facility, friendly and caring staff. So glad I went there for my successful cataract procedures!
Dr Lalin has been treating me for 10 yrs. He is an excellent provider with excellent credentials .
I had laser cataract surgery and multifocal lenses implanted in both eyes in October 2020. I found Dr. Lalin to be a very knowledgeable, competent, highly-skilled & trustworthy surgeon. He answered all of my questions before and after surgery, and guided me through the experience. Likewise Dr. Shah reviewed my test results and competently & patiently explained all my options and answered all my questions. I found the staff to be friendly, helpful & competent. I had a great experience and will enthusiastically recommend Dr. Lalin to anyone needing cataract surgery.
Dr. Sean Lalin is very confident in his work and promotes a clean and sanitized environment. I’m extremely overall satisfied with the cataract surgery performed on my right eye. I will definitely go back for the left eye procedure. Highly recommend Dr Lalin and his staff. Thank you so much!!! 100%
Just had my second cataract surgery performed by Dr. Lalin and his staff. Dr. Lalin put me immediately at ease with his confidence and warm personality. His staff exhibits these same qualities. Going back to him for the second procedure was a no brainer.
I had what I thought was a detached retina and called Dr. Lalin's office. They told me to come over right away. I was so impressed that they got me in so fast. I waited in the waiting room no more than 10 minutes, and then they ran a battery of tests. Turns out I had a vitreous detachment (normal for someone my age) and not a detached retina. Dr. Lalin explained everything to me---his manner is just great. I entered the office afraid I'd be going to the hospital and I left an hour later feeling totally relaxed and reassured. Dr. Lalin is terrific!
I am not sure how to begin...let me preface by saying 3 visits... still NO lasik. This experience was beyond awful, and I will never be coming back. I came with the intention of getting Lasik performed on my bad eye (the other was corrected with cataract surgery.) I am 26 years old with recent history of 6 eye surgeries for retinal detachments, retinal thinning, and cataracts. I assumed this practice would be qualified. I received two consults, first one was almost $250 which went well, and Dr. Lalin as well as Dr. Shah seemed optimistic that Lasik was the right choice. Let me mention I had technically two lasik appointments, and both times the technicians failed to realize I was scheduled for one eye only. Doesn't exactly make me feel confident in care. They scheduled me for a pre-op Lasik appointment, which was DIFFERENT than the consult, on a Thursday. Due to my eye conditions, without wearing a contact I am unable to see. One eye is extremely near sighted and one is extremely far sighted. I can't wear glasses due to the drastic difference of prescriptions, so I needed to take off work for 1 week to prepare. I walk in Thursday morning for pre-op and the woman at the desk demands $2000 for the surgery that was allegedly the next day. I was under the impression I was scheduled for a pre-op appointment, and no one had mentioned surgery, let alone up-front payment before the consult! The office manager, Tracy, was so kind and helped square everything away. Three hours later...I met with Dr. Shah who mentioned since they "forgot" to tell me about my surgery date, I needed to prepare again, and take off another week of work, since I couldn't wear a contact, for the surgery date. I received a call a few days later demanding payment again, despite being told that I could bring my care credit info the day of the surgery. I paid the $2000, despite feeling nervous for the surgery due to this facility being all over the place. Wednesday I received a call saying my surgery was 7:15 Friday - I needed to pick up the prescriptions they gave me. I paid out of pocket for these scripts. Thursday NIGHT I received ANOTHER call stating "the machine isn't working properly. We are going to reschedule your surgery." Two weeks I had taken off of work, my boyfriend took off work so he could drive me, $2250 gone, plus the cost of prescriptions, and nothing to show for it. They refunded the $2000, but I am still fighting for the $250 since I don't trust them to operate. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
Dr. Lalin has excellent credentials. He explains things. He is careful and kind when treating patients. During my office visits, the procedure to be prepped to see the doctor has been a well orchestrated dance. For some of us in his waiting room, the battle to save our sight is an ongoing process. The stakes are high. I trust Dr. Lalin.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
