Dr. Desarno recently removed my gallbladder and I could not have asked for a better experience with a better team. He is attentive, answered all of my questions and really put me at ease prior to the operation.

Very unwelcoming impolite staff, especially Christine at the front desk. The doctor is condescending and nasty. So, here is my story. I had an appointment on Thursday with Dr. Desarno. Lipomas on my thigh are getting visible and I had some legitimate concern. The doctor recommended an MRI before surgery and gave me script/prescription. So, Christine at the front desk told me that next day she would contact my insurance company and give me an authorization number and so I would be able to make my appointment for MRI. Today is Monday, and, of course, I called to find out why she did not call me. She told me that their computer system has down since Thursday/Friday and she does not know when it will be up, so she has no idea how many days or weeks it will take to get me an authorization, as it should go through their computer system. I asked, how it is possible in the United States that your system is down 4-5 days and you have no idea when it will be fixed. She was unapologetic and unhelpful. I said this is unacceptable and she called Dr. DeSarno, who himself told me that seeking the insurance company's authorization is a courtesy that he is doing for me and that he has no obligation to get me an authorization number from my insurance company. He said that I have to call the insurance company myself. He also told me he has no idea when computer system will be fixed and he is not in charge of this. So, I called my insurance company, Excellus BC/BS, and they told me that this is unheard of. It is, in fact, the doctor's responsibility to justify the procedure and send them the notes. They use an independent company to validate radiology requests, and that company will not even talk to patients directly. So, he is not doing you a courtesy, but it is his obligation. I have no explanation why they treated me like that, may be my accent was unwelcome by them.

Dr. Desarno did my hernia surgery and I could not have been happier . He was amazing and thorough at explaining everything to me and and his bedside manners were awesome. He'll be my first choice for anything I need in the future!!!

I had a Robotic Laparoscopic right inguinal hernia surgery and it was the best way to go. Dr. DeSarno was amazing and I was up and about within 2 days. The pain was very minimal to what I expected. Dr. DeSarno and staff eased all my fears, he is the best!
