List of Ellen M. Stein's Reviews
Dr Stein handles very complex GI diagnoses but most importantly treats the whole person not just the disease. She is matter of fact but compassionate and picks up on nuances other Doctors fail to see which are needed to fully understand and apply an adequate treatment plans for the individual patient. No cookie cutter treatment here. She does not rush, and is the first Dr I have seen, ever, that spends the time needed for your particular situation, not just the time alloted. Highly recommend.
I have seen Dr. Stein for over 5 years. She is a fantastic gastroenterologist! She provided a gateway to diagnosis and surgical intervention for several long-standing conditions that had been passed over by my prior physicians. Dr. Stein is well respected in her gastroenterology practice. I highly recommend her.
I have gone to Dr. Stein for a care plan and treatment since 2011. She is an empathetic listener who makes efficient effective decisions to advise on health, medication, testing schedules and treatment. She is an incredibly effective physician.
She should lose her position! She is the worst doctor I have ever seen. Don’t waste your time go to temple! You’ll get better care faster appointments and actual doctors that treat you!
I love Dr. Stein. She is friendly and informative. She ensured that I understood my health concerns and encouraged my participation in determining next steps. I would recommend her highly.
It’s been over five years since we first met Dr. Stein after a doctors at Jefferson causeD my wife to have Gastroparesis due to a botched operation. First visit with Dr. Stein she was arrogant and Unprofessional and refused to acknowledge that my wife had gastroparesis. After several visits she gave her Reglan as a medication. After two weeks Terry was having serious Side effects. Dr. Stein “Insisted” that Terry stay on the medication. As a result Terry is in her fifth year of dementia ... the side effects of that nasty medication. I have no respect for Dr Stein.
Entered the room reading her mobile phone and kept reading it. Paid no attention to her patient.
Dr. Stein is very compassionate and caring. I have been her patient for 5 years and she is always willing to help answer any question I have whether I have an appointment or not. She gets right back to me through email or MyChart. At my appointments she listens to all my questions and concerns and addresses them with me. She knows my disease very well and is always thinking "outside the box" to try new things to keep it under control.
Her assistant (another MD) went over my medical history for an hour -- very detailed. Then saw dr stein who went over it again. Very thorough and intelligent -- asks good questions and I have a complicated case. Told her I wanted a 6 month plan upon leaving and she was completely on board. Am happy to see here again as my original doc (Dr. Dhalla) transferred from Hopkins. Would recommend Dr. Stein to anyone.
I saw a lot of bad comments about Dr Stein on here and I don't understand why. I recently saw here and my experience was great. I had no wait to get into the examination room. Once there, I was greeted by Dr. Argawal (sp?) who spent an hour with me going over my medical history. Once complete, I saw Dr. Stein and she was wonderful. She had a few specific questions for me and and also went over my medical history. I wanted a 6 month plan and she was on board with this. Very good doc!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
