Nothing but a hassle with this lady. She doesn’t listen to the family and does as she pleases. I had to bring my son to another hospital to correct his shunt setting after she cranked it as high as it can go putting it on the incorrect setting .
We were referred to Dr Pain by a group which said nobody in their neurosurgery group was able to treat my stepson's issue nor could Princeton Medical Center. PMC might have an opinion on that otherwise. It turned out to be a blessing. My stepson had had two surgeries botched at another teaching hospital and had the remnants of a spinal catheter exposed through an incision. Dr Pain saw us on a semi emergency basis and scheduled the surgery for the following week. She did an outstanding job and now two weeks postop my stepson is doing well. My stepson's mother and I have both been in health care for over 40 years each. Dr. Pain is without question as empathetic a physician that either of us has ever met. She was very thorough answering all our inquiries. I can not say enough positive things about her. I would recommend her without hesitation.
Recently underwent brain shunt surgery done by Dr. Margaret Pain at RWJUH-New Brunswick. Diagnosis was hydrocephalus, most likely caused by viral meningitis during my early teenage years. Major frustration was getting to a correct diagnosis prior to surgery! The happy ending to my wandering through the field of neurology ended with Dr. Pain & her caring & patient approach. She is remarkably patient and highly skilled. I literally owe her another decade of high-quality life.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
