Dr Assina was a god send to my family, a true blessing. I had lumbar surgery and my husband had a cervical fusion of 4 vertebrae. Before my surgery, I could barely walk to pain in my groin, which was caused by a herniated disk between L1 & L2. Another doctor asked me what would you like to be able to do? I told him to be able to walk around the block again. After my surgery and recovery, I can walk, garden and dance again. My husband has been suffering for years with pain in his neck, down his arms until his fingers were numb. He was prescribed pain meds and became addicted. He met several surgeons throughout the years, but each one frightened him more, that the surgery would not help and might even do more damage. As soon as we met Dr Assina, we knew that his was the one, the good soul to help us to restart my husband's life again. Dr. Assina performed an anterior cervical discectomy and fusion three months ago, I'm very happy with the results-no more pain. During my first visit, I was nervous about the thought of surgery, but Dr. Assina explained the whole procedure and put me at ease. He is a humble and compassionate person. His team, Brittany and PA are friendly, dedicated people, who always answer my questions. Dr. Assina is the crème of the crème I highly recommed him!

I was in extreme pain for 6 months. Previous doctors told me physical therapy had to be done before getting an MRI. I woke up one day not being able to feel my right side. I went to St. Claire’s in Denville where they finally did an MRI. Dr.Assina saw I had 4 herniated disks with two up against a nerve. He performed a lumbar discectomy to L5. Today is one month after surgery and I am almost completely pain free. I feel so much relief and I am finally getting back to my normal self. Dr.Assina is such a caring individual between calming down my daughters with daily text messages and working on his days off. I could not have asked for better care or a more compassionate doctor.

Look no further than Dr. Assina❤️ Quite honestly the only surgeon I know that would call and text you to make you feel like there is hope at 10:00pm at night knowing how much you are hurting from four herniated disc’s in your neck (nerve pain if you never had it it’s the worst ) Dr. Assina asked if I could make it up to his office at 7:45am in his Florham Park office the next morning on a day that he normally doesn’t see patients due to scheduled operations. He continued to keep me informed by text and phone calls on the process of the procedure he would eventually perform on me. This post is not about me I’m fine and don’t hurt anymore and it’s all because of Dr. Assina. Thank you Dr. Assina! you and your team are the best!! Best of the best experience in terms communication, care and attention. He performed lumber surgery on me, everything went on so smoothly including post surgery follow ups. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Assina has been very attentive and compassionate towards me throughout all of my care. He is a very humble man who truly cares about his patients. I was very scared when I first found out I needed surgery but Dr. Assina made this experience one that I am able to deal with. He and all of his co-workers at his office are professional and very kind. I recommend him to anyone who needs a neurosurgeon!

Dr Assina and his ace associate, Brittany were incredibly responsive to my condition. The doctor spent quite some time on my cervical spine surgery to make sure it was top notch. The doctor made me feel like I was his family. That is how caring he treated me. What was more impressive was the doctor requested a meeting with my wife so she can understand what I was about to go through, or as he put it, what we were about to go through. I hope I will never need his services again, but if I ever did, I know I would be in good hands.

If you need a coccygectomy it’s like finding a needle in a haystack. Possible! But difficult. Dr. Assina and his team were a gift from the moment I stepped into his office. He was straightforward, transparent, and understanding. I have struggled with the pain of a hyper-mobile coccyx with a bone spur for six years. Dr. Assina agreed to take that sucker out. The day of the surgery I found his confidence and grace very reassuring. He communicated with my mom in the waiting room before and after the surgery with warmth and empathy. As I write this I am wiping away tears of gratitude. Surgery is scary. I hope this message helps to give anyone considering Dr. Assina as a surgeon peace of mind (along with his other glowing reviews). I’m not a neurosurgeon expert, but finding one who is both brilliant and kind also feels a bit like finding a needle in a haystack. How lucky for me! And for all the patients and families, past and future, who benefit from his service.
