I didn’t know that he had destroyed my knee until I had to have another surgery to fix it, by a different dr. He botched the ACL surgery by placing screws too anterior. He also damaged my knee cap. The hospital for special surgery has gone two more subsequent surgeries.
In 1980, I actually trusted that the orthopedic surgeon for the New York Giants would be one of the best. I sustained an injury. I had weakness in my left leg and ankle but I was still able to perform. I was told that it was a high ankle sprain. Months later it hadn’t improved and he had no answer. Six months later with the weakness still obvious. While playing I tore the MCL on the weak left leg. It never regained strength and my career was over as I couldn’t perform at the needed level. Two years later I sneezed and and had a horrific episode that turned out to be a herniated disk at L4-L5 pressing against the cord and requiring a laminectomy. Sure wish that years earlier I would have treated a disk injury instead of a “high ankle sprain “. Maybe he got better with experience.
This TWATWAFFLE SHOULD BE SHOT AT SUNRISE!!! AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL...I WAS ONE OF THE LUCKY ONES WHO LEFT HIS TABLE UNSCATHED! I THINK HE GOT HIS SKILLS PLAYING OPERATION!!!! I OFTEN WONDER IF HE ACTUALLY DID MY KNEE OR GUIDED SOMEONE INSTEAD. HIS ASSISTANT WAS ONE FUGLY WOMAN.
This surgeon operated on my knee25 years ago, and thanks to him I never had to go for joint replacement. He is very gentle with tissue in the knee, and as an anesthesiologist, I have watched his work with many people, none of whom had to go for a joint replacement. That is what defines a good arthroscopic surgeon.I cannot vouch for his office staff now and his bedside manner leaves much to be desired, but his his skill with the scope is unparalleled.
Dr. Sloan was my orthopedist in 1980 when I first hurt my knee...told I would need surgery...day of surgery, numerous calls came in from his office, with different times to come in for procedure...finally last call, we find he had lost his privileges at Hospital for Joint Diseases in NYC and if I wanted to come in the next day, to Beth Israel in Newark, he'd be happy to operate on me then... I was only 15 years when this happened. Totally shocked that this doctor was the official orthopedist of the New York (football) Giants!! I never had the misfortune of having him operate on me!! I'd be afraid to be a Thanksgiving turkey, waiting for him to carve me... I'm so sorry for all of you who suffered because of this "butcher"; only wish my old orthopedist were still alive to do my upcoming surgery... I still can remember my reaction to findind out I was not going to have my operation...a simple " shit fit", by a young girl who mentally prepared herself her entire freshman year of high school for a surgery that never happened...at least, not by this doctor. Run to another doctor, before even considering this one!!
There is no other orthopedic with the skill that Dr. Sloane has. He fixed my husband's knee that was botched by another doctor. His surgery is meticulous and performed in extremely clean and well-managed surgery centers. I don't think he has had a single case of infection. He is not quick to recommend surgery, but tries non-surgery alternatives first unless there is no alternative. His diagnosis and the therapy he prescribed for my shoulder was spot on. He's quick, but very good.
This doctor was the beginning of my nightmare with my torn miniscus, that he diagnosed and said I needed surgery and I trusted him. Not only was he wrong in the diagnosis, but to this day I have suffered terribly. I have seen three ortho surgeons who in I fatically say I never had a torn miniscus. He did damage to the area and now I have scaring. This animal should not be in practice.
Was recommended to me years ago. What a mistake. Wound up getting a blood clot and spending an excessive amount of time in the hospital for a knee surgery. He really sucks to be kind about it. I think if I came across him I would knock him out! Please, please do yourself a favor...find another orthopedic. They did not have the internet and any of these sites years ago but do not make the mistake I did. He is a horror show!!!
Dr. Sloan is a train wreck waiting to happen. I plead with whoever reads this...find another orthopedic. This man is a menace!
Dr. Sloan is a total douche! Really, really terrible!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
