Dr. Turtel is a very good doctor.

Called the office to make an appointment for my daughter and told them in advance she needed to be out by 11 if she had an appointment at 10. They said they would accomodate but they didn't. My daughter wasted her time and they triple book their time slots. Very unprofessional and not respectful of anyone's time or requests.

One of the worst physician-patient experiences I have had. After an office visit where it was clear to me that the doctor was not paying complete attention to me, I made several attempts to reach out to her over issues in connection with medication she prescribed. I never received a call back from the doctor despite repeated requests. When I ultimately questioned having to pay the bill as a result, I was told by her office manager that the doctor spent a lot of time with my chart (not me “my chart”). It wasn’t until after I indicated I would make a complaint to my insurance company that Dr. Turtel finally attempted to reach out to me—which continues to provide me with insight as to where her priorities are.

My husband is a patient of Dr Penny Turtel's as she did a colonoscopy on him about 2 months a go. When my husband called the office to make an appt, telling the receptionist he is in a lot of pain, she told him he has to wait 2 months to get an appt as he is not a patient of the dr's. When he told her he is a patient and had a colonoscopy just 2 months ago, she told him "that doen't count". How ridiculous is that? He called back the next day to have his records transferred to another dr. who would see him. They took the information and said it was fine, they would transfer his records.. Then he called the records dept and told them to cancel his appt. He spoke to Jo who asked him if he wants to reschedule and he told her "no", she asked why and he told her. She asked if the other person asked him if he would like to speak to the nurse and he said the option wasn't given to him. Jo said she would take care of it for him, he gave her all the information and we assumed she was a caring person who would do as she said and take care of it. My husband then went for his appt, but when he arrived, he was informed Dr Turtel's office never sent the records. My husband tried calling Turtel's office and as usual, no one answered the phone. He got a recording that said to leave his info and someone would call him back. No one ever called back. What a shock! What kind of office is this where no one answers the phone or the receptionist thinks she's a Dr? I know drs tell the receptionist what to say and how to handle patients, but this is ridiculous. if you want a caring dr who will see you when you need them, DO NOT GO TO THIS OFFICE!

I was recommended to Dr Turtel from one of her employees for a second opinion. I was so sick with stomach pain and losing weight. For 5 years I was told I had IBS. Went to her and she tested me until she found something. I had stomach and liver cancer. She actually saved my life. She sent me to Drs at Mt Sinai . I love her. I send her all my friends and family. I’m forever grateful. Thank You Dr. Turtel

I met with Dr. Turtel for a second opinion and found her review of the facts and her questions insightful. She is one of the best doctors I have met with for my health!

I have been under Dr. Turtel's care for almost three years and she is terrific. She listens and asks questions that show how much she cares about your wellbeing. Unlike other doctors who rush to write you a script and , she goes patiently over all your concerns, considers underlying causes, and discusses possible approaches. It's not always easy to get a regular/check-up appointment right away, but if there's an emergency she makes sure you see someone in the office who will then confer with her

I have gone to Dr Turtle for 10 years for colonoscopies. Dr Turtel has always been professional and caring. All of my questions are always answered. Everyone I encountered at The Ocean Surgical Pavilion was helpful also. Tammy, the pre procedure nurse, and Janice , who helped me were knowledgeable and cheerful. I highly recommend Dr Turtel and the staff at Ocean Surgical Pavilion

Dr. Turtel is an excellent gastroenterologist! She is kind, caring, and extremely thorough. There is no limit on the time she spends carefully explaining and answering all of your concerns and questions. She instantly put you at ease and makes you feel comfortable with her and confident she will explore all avenues to help you. Her credentials reflect the treatment and overall comfort you will receive at your visit!
