Hooman Azmi's Online Review Report Card

From the first day I met Dr. Azmi, which was over 7 years ago when I was admitted to Valley Hospital, his warm, gentle and caring approach was so comforting, and after he reviewed the images (many taken) he recommended a nerve medication, not surgery, which other doctors recommended without hesitation, and his approach was successful. I am so happy and lucky I chose Dr. Azmi's suggestion, and not the other doctor's opinions of immediate surgery. I most recently had surgery on my neck (03/2022), which was not what I was initially dealing with 7 years ago. This next issue (neck pain and an impingement on my spinal cord fluid) I went to see Dr. Azmi three years ago for ultimately led to surgery, but initially he took a very conservative approach, but as things progressively worsened, and it became necessary to have surgery, I felt the utmost confidence in Dr. Azmi and his team. I, as any other concerned patient should, sought other opinions, but I knew Dr. Azmi was the right Neurosurgeon for this job, even after going to the Hospital for Special Surgery who performs these surgery's daily like Dr. Azmi does. To sum things up for those who were as concerned about their health, having major surgery on their cervical spine and getting back to their original physical state of health as an active person in my late 50's, I wouldn't let any other doctor, unless Dr. Azmi recommended them, operate on me.

Extremely personal; very highly qualified; approachable; cared very much about me. Made me as comfortable as possible given the surgery. Very extensive experience and it showed. I cannot recommend him high enough! Anyone using Dr. Azmi is in the best of hands!

I recently had a procedure to treat Essential Tremor, and thanks to the excellent work of Dr. Azmi, I am tremor free in my dominant hand. I, together with my daughter, who is an MD herself, had looked and the different hospitals and Doctors that perform the MRI-HIFU procedure, we found Hackensack Hospital and Dr. Azmi. When my daughter reached out to colleagues, they all had glowing reviews for Dr. Azmi. I was a little apprehensive but since the first visit with Dr. Azmi, he made me feel comfortable. He clearly explained the procedure and the possible side effects, he answered all my question, he was always available when I needed to speak with him. Dr. Azmi’s team both at the office and the hospital were amazing, I think this is a reflection of Dr. Azmi’s dedication and professionalism. Dr. Azmi is sensitive, patient and very kind!

I have been a patient of Dr Azmi for almost a year and only have positive feedback. He is very knowledgeable about all types of conditions, can explain things in a way that I as a patient understand and seems to really care about his patients. He is the best PCP I have had in over 20 years. He has a way of making me feel comfortable discussing anything necessary which is rare and has led to me putting off getting care for things in the past. His office staff is top notch and if you need to be seen with little notice, he takes walk-ins during certain times. It is not difficult to get in contact or see Dr Azmi like it is so many doctors. I am glad I found him.

I visited 6 doctors for an acute cervical condition at top NY/NJ hospitals/clinics but Dr. Azmi was the only one who really took the time to sit down and explain the exact situation in detail (including going through the MRI images with me and explain what the images indicate, etc.). He patiently answered all my questions, and recommended what to do next. He was very courteous and caring. I rarely write reviews but I thought I need to do it this time.

Did Deep Brain Stim surgery on my husband (for his tremor) with great results. Not only is Dr Azmi a brilliant doctor, he is kind, patient, and one hell of a Hooman being! (Pun entirely intended)

Thank you Dr Azmi for giving me some sort of hope. While I didn’t know what to expect and I didn’t want to keep my hopes so high, we are impressed with the results of the microvascular decompression. My pain is gone! We knew we made the right decision when we chose you. I still have to recover from the surgery but I along with my family would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving me my life back. I am free from the daily and constant pain due to trigeminal neuralgia. Now I can sleep eat talk laugh again! A million thanks for the best gift you gave me for my birthday! I highly recommend you!
