Dr. Alexander treated us with kindness, class and he’s a thorough excellent surgeon. He took his time to explain everything and speaks to you as if you were his equal . I’m so thankful for him. My daughter’s surgery was a great success and he cared so much!!!

In September of 2020 my son went to Valley Hospital in Ridgewood for an emergency appendectomy. Dr Alexander was the surgeon on duty. All went well - my benefits covered their portion of what appeared to be the bill for the procedure, till January 2021 when we received an additional bill for $17176.77! After speaking to our Blue Cross Blue Shield representative and Dr Alexander's billing department I was told that this is called "balance billing". Now the way I see it, Valley Hospital is an in-network provider, so a surgeon on duty, especially for a procedure that is not elective, such as an appendectomy, is in-network as well. BC/BS would not cover any more of the bill, threw us under the bus, and Dr Alexander's office would not accept my offer to pay $1000.00 and put the matter to rest. I have had numerous conversations with Dr Alexander's office, each time making it clear that they will never get $17176.77 out of my pocket. And that is where we stand. I will alert the media!

Would never use again not upfront about billing

Our family has all had hernias in childhood and I've seen it treated over the years. Dr. Alexander introduced us to a new level of skill and experience, giving our child a very fast recovery (he was completely back to himself a few hours later). It was really reassuring to know every step he took was reinforced by years of experience and having done the procedure thousands of times. He also has a fantastic rapport with parents throughout all the stages, from the initial consultation, to the pre-surgery, even having someone assure us things were going well during the actual surgery.

Would not recommend.

Saved my son's life- Dr.Alexander is the most professional doctor I could possibly imagine!

My visit with 6-week old baby was great. Karen from the doctor’s office met us, made us comfortable in the room, explained how much we should wait (wait time was like 10-15 mins, which I anyway needed to fill in the paperwork. Highly appreciate the transparency: helps to know how much to wait to plan baby’s time). The doctor is patient, knowledgeable and very pro-active. He was willing to coordinate MRI urgently (the next day) with the hospital and kid’s physician (as I failed to get an early app myself). I know that doctor’s office (Karen was on the phone more than an hour to arrange everything). The next day in the morning the doctor called with the results and referred to the specialist. I also know that doctor Frederick had to be on the call with the physicians, who asked him questions. Highly recommend as we came for one visit but instead we got superb supervision in our journey towards recovery.

My son had his first inguinal hernia repaired by Dr. Alexander when he was 3 years old and the second one recently in August 2020 (he was near 6 years old). I can’t say in words what a professionalism, devotion, care, Dr. Alexander has proved. He also has a calmness and a way of approaching his patients, like very rare you can find. I felt that my son was in the safest hands possible with each one of these procedures. His staff, Karen and Jennifer as nice as can be as well. My son didn’t have any anxiety at all going through the surgeries. He is usually picky when it comes to people. He, somehow, connected with his surgeon and trusted him and it made everything so smooth. If they see this message, just sending million, endless gratitude and wish them health! Recommend Dr. Alexander without a single doubt!

Dr. Alexander is the kindest doctor anyone could hope to find in a moment of need. He did surgery on my baby daughter eyebrow to remove a cyst when She was 8 months. As nervous as I was that was piece of cake. Fast forward 11 years. My 9 years old had a bad ruptured appendix. After recurring infections and in desperate need of help, Dr. Alexander and his wonderful office team helped me figure it out a way to treat my son. His calm and professionalism makes your worst nightmare feel easier. My family will be eternally grateful to his kindness, patience, skills, outstanding bedside manners and so on. My son loves him. Thank you Dr. Alexander for helping kids and families. I wish you could teach a course in college: the art of treating people with kindness and respect. My guy healed perfectly thanks to your persistence.

I can't thank doctor Frederick Enough , He performed surgery on my daughter when she was 5 months old , she had a hemangioma in the back of her head , and he did a wonderful job , my daughter now is 4 and she has a very light scar , i am beyond thankful . thank you doctor Frederick .
