Howard D. Apfel's Online Review Report Card

I was not informed of the cost of the procedure and was simply told my insurance covered it. They charged for random things aside from the fetal echo scan noted on the invoice as "other fetal evaluations" even though it was only supposed to be a fetal echo. I researched what a scan like this should roughly cost both with and without insurance and this office charged 4 times the amount just to see what they could squeeze out of the insurance as noted by the front person I spoke to. To make matters worse I never received a bill or explanation and was sent to collections. I would never recommend this practice especially with such a delicate matter.

We brought our 12 year old daughter to Dr. Apfel in 1996, where he quickly diagnosed her with a congenital heart defect. He was very caring and attentive. He quickly arranged for her to have corrective surgery to be done. He carefully explained all of the details of her care, so we could understand them, and what we could do. He made us feel like family, and that we could call on him whenever needed. My daughter is 34 years old, has 4 children, and living healthy life, thanks to Dr Apfel's care.

He was great. Staff was rude.
