List of St. Josephs University Medical Center's Reviews
After suffering an unexpected heart attack at the age of 86, my Mom spent a week and a half in the care of the Cardiac teams (Cardiac Catheterization Interventional, Cath Lab). It was a stressful time for her and us as her kids (added to by not being able to visit with her due to the no visitor COVID policy). But through phone communication, Mom shared the high level of quality care she received from her St Joe's nurses and caretakers. It eased our minds that she was reporting she was as comfortable as possible and didn't need anything she wasn't getting. She shared that the nurses helping her were nice, attentive, compassionate, and capable. She joked and laughed with them and they with her to lighten what was a scary and hard situation. She felt grateful for all of them and acknowledged they do their difficult job with grace. I wish I had their names to properly thank and honor each of them, but unfortunately I don't. In lieu of that I'm writing this review to say THANK YOU to everyone who cared for my Mom (Maria) as they would their own Mom! Thank you St Joe's for this positive experience.PS - Nurse Emmanuel/Jay, you were her favorite. ;-)PPS - A special thank you to the outstanding Palliative Care team. They played an integral role in helping my Mom feel valued, heard, and supported. And they helped us through their involvement and keeping lines of communication open with a goal of helping my Mom's wishes be honored throughout the process of her care.
I have been waiting at the ER for OVER 8 HOURS and they haven’t seen my 87 years old dad. They keep saying they are cleaning the rooms. This is unacceptable. I have seen other people come and go.
As always this wonderful hospital at the forefront of health
Honestly, if you can help it go to a different hospital. If you value your life, do not go to the emergency room because you will be waiting for six hours just to be taken to the room in the back just to wait more hours. They move ridiculously slow and this was even prior to Covid. I usually always go there especially if I’m in a lot of pain and regret it every single time. I would rather go 15 more minutes away up the streets and highway to Hackensack. There’s no sense of urgency whatsoever in the emergency room. They keep winning rewards and things like that but I think it’s all rigged. So if you want to live go somewhere else.
12 hours. That’s how long I waited and i have not been seen yet. Good luck to who ever comes here, this hospital needs more help than the people who come here for help. Unless you’re dying as I was told by the receptionist. Get ready to wait or be told to go home. As I was.
You are treating patients as if they are prisoners or criminals, my mother was admitted 13 days ago, we can’t even get her some edible food for two weeks we can’t bring her a hot meal and submitted in the reception outside, she is complaining of hunger for the amount of food served is inhuman for her age and her health. Yes she’s sick but she’s still a HUMAN BEING
Went there at 1:30pm or so for a severe painful ear infection, got checked in and waited an hour for them to do a small test in the lobby such as for weight, blood pressure, etc. Then waited 4 hours until 6:30 for a room to open up, which one never did. All the while patients that came after me were attended and I sat there wasting time, decided it wasn't worth the waste of time and left in pain, not even having seen a doctor while others got to go even tho they came after me.
Very unprofessional personnel. My brother was brought there in a ambulance with abdominal pain which was his gallbladder. Five days later we had to take my brother out of that hospital because they kept postponing the surgery. But no communication at all we had to find out for ourselves that the surgery were canceled and poor guy with lots of pain. No compassion not even.. bad people
This hospital is so dirty. I have been to the ER a few times and it is just horrible as far as being clean. The medical care is great that is why I keep coming back but as far as a clean room from the ER to inpatient it’s all very nasty. The photo attached is of room 17 in the pediatrics ER and that is blood on the floor.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
