List of Gerald Dunham's Reviews
Unfortunately my visit with Dr Dunham did not go well at all. I told him about a pre-existing condition which he discredited. He then proceeded to tell me I needed two different surgery/procedures. He didn't go into detail other than vaguely suggesting I could lose my vision. And then just as quickly left the room. As it turns out, after a serving opinion he was wrong to suggest either procedure. My eyes are healthy. Not sure how that could be missed so blatantly but worse is that he didn't even take time to discuss our ask if I had any questions?
Dr. Dunham had been my opthalmologist for well over a decade, but no more. Last spring, during a routine eye exam, he told me I needed cataract surgery on both eyes (to be done one eye at a time). I knew I had cataracts, but was hoping to push off the surgery for a few more years. I went for a second opinion to an opthalmologist I had not seen before. She gave me a full eye exam, as Dr. Dunham had, then asked what kinds of vision problems I was having. When I told her I was not having any vision problems, she asked why I was even considering cataract surgery. I told her that Dr. Dunham had said I needed it. She replied that maybe he was seeing something she couldn't, but in her practice, cataract surgery was not done unless vision problems necessitated it. It is now 6 months+ since that second opinion, and I am still not having any issues with my vision. I will not return to Dr. Dunham.
I have been a patient of Dr. Dunham's for many years. On a recent visit earlier this year, he told me I needed cataract surgery when I did not had any issue with eye. Beleaving him I did contract surgery on one eye and saw my vision dropped. I went for a 2nd opinion at a different practice. The new ophthalmologist checked my eyes and after through evailaution told me I did not need contract surgery at all. As per him, surgery was done unneccessarily. I had no trouble with my vision previously, now I have to live with eye glasses. Looks like Dr Dunham prescribe unneccessary surgery. I am very upset that Dr. Dunham performed/recommended what I believe was unnecessary surgery. I will recommand to take 2nd opinion before going for surgery. Even my spouse was recommended for contract surgery, but other Dr told us that he does not need it.
I have had 2 appointments with Dr Dunham for routine vision check. First appt took 3 hrs. Second appt took 2 hrs. The office is not run in an efficient way. Never before have I had such a long wait for an eye dr. The staff was super friendly, but there is a critical lack of communication between them and the dr. The doctor told me some troubling info about my eyes but couldn't explain it in a way that made sense. he just told me i needed to come back for a 2nd appointment. On my second appt, no one had a clue what had happened in the first appt. There was little documentation about my first time there and my test results. The dr could not remember me at all (OK - he's busy) but then couldn't read the notes from that appt because they were not thorough. so basically we started at square one again. Most disturbing was that there was an admission of an error but no one could figure out what exactly should have been done. Ultimately, I walked out. He is a malpractice suit waiting to happen
He and his staff are efficient, personable, patient, thorough ...couldn't ask for better care. Highly recommend.
I had an appointment with Dr. Dunham on Tuesday for a bump on my eyelid. A dermatologist suggested I see an ophthalmologist to have it a biopsy. Dr. Dunham is local so I gave the office a call and made an appointment. My first issue was the 90 minute wait. I left work early and wasted 90 minutes of my time simply waiting. When I made it to the exam room, the assistant didn’t seem to have a clue why I was there and started the prep for a regular exam. I explained I was just there to have the doct
I was referred to this doctor after an emergency room visit to a local hospital. He is EXTREMELY knowledgeable, and attentive and has a supportive secretary that completes the “your in good hands package.” I would definitely refer friends and family.
Excellent doctor very detailed oriented and knowledgeable.I received excellent care from him whenever i visit him.
I went to Dr. Dunham with very bad dry eye. He actually treated me vs. other doctors who just gave me artificial tears. He used a whole body approach and educated me on the benefits of fish oil as well as a prescription for Restasis. He took time to cover the reasons why he was recommending what he was recommending for my condition and I did not feel rushed as with other doctors. Dr. Dunham is a very patient and kind person who cares about his patients! I highly recommend him!
Dr. Dunham is very thorough and patient. I've been seeing him for 10 years and have only received the best care from him.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
