List of Anthony J. Ricca's Reviews
This is by far the worst experience I have ever had with any doctor's office. The representatives are always rude, it's nearly impossible to speak with a Medical Assistant, and 1 out of 5 attempts to receive a call back. This facility should be closed down for it's un-professionalism and cleanliness. Thankfully, Dr. Ricca has been let go because he should not be in practice. My animal receives better care from their vet office. Scheduling an appointment was always difficult as well.
Front office was very helpful, however Dr. Ricca spent less than 5 minutes with me and was very rude.
dr ricca is a great guy but the front office alone is the reason I will never go back , one girl joleen (however you wanna spell it is a nasty women no business being in a doc office ) rude cuts you off im sure she wants to get back to texting ....
Made fun of me, refused to test me for what he said he was going to because "he wanted to go home"
I have been a patient of Dr. Ricca for many years. He is not associated with Barnabas Health Care and has no control regarding the staff. That being said he is an absolutely brilliant doctor and I am alive today due to his diagnostic skill. He truly cares about every patient he sees and I cannot recommend him more highly.
I compete in combat sports, I'm rarely sick but about 6 months ago I started going there for when I need to get my physical, which takes about 10 minutes to complete, seeing as it is mostly yes or no questions that he has to sign off on, and a few quick tests. The first time that I went there in October 2014, they had just moved offices from Hazlet to Middletown, but nobody had told me. I showed up to the Hazlet office and nobody was there, just a sign on the door with their new address, so I rushed over and got there about 10 minutes after my appointment time (I was originally 5 minutes early, but they moved about 15 minutes away) because I had never been to the new building before they made me fill out a first time visiting paper, and had the balls to tell me I should've been there earlier to fill it out so I could have it done by my appointment time... I WAS IN THE WAITING ROOM FOR 3 HOURS before I got into his room, and had to wait another 30 minutes while he was with another patient. Today, 2/10/2015 I needed a physical filled out ASAP so I called this morning and asked if I could make an appointment to get my physical done. The lady on the phone said that he was doing walk-ins today, so just to come any time after 11 and don't worry about an appointment, this is pretty urgent so I spent my lunch break going there instead of eating, only when I get there THEY TELL ME THEY DONT DO PHYSICALS FOR WALK-INS. I have an appointment tomorrow and am only going because I need the form done ASAP, but after that it'll be the last time that I ever go into that office.
My family and I have been patients of Dr. Ricca for approximately 20 years. He is and always has been one of the best diagnosticians around. He can pinpoint what's wrong and help you quickly. He has always been polite, friendly, and funny at times. From the rating below, I can only believe that those people probably were not very nice themselves. Dr. Ricca is right to the point, no nonsense, answer his questions and tell him your problem, and he will get you better.
Dr. Anthony Ricca was incredibly RUDE to myself and my family members. He spoke down to us and treated us with such disrespect that myself and my family will NEVER recommend seeing Dr. Ricca to ANYONE. I am honestly in shock about the way we were treated and spoken to. Dr. Ricca was disrespectful, extremely rude, and not professional in any way.
I have been going to Doctor Ricca for many years and I have always been very happy with him. He is very knowledgeable and always has the time to explain to me what is going on. The one thing that I find baffling is why he keeps that receptionist on staff. She is miserable and rude to say the lest. My family and friends have the same feelings about her and some actually stopped using Doctor Ricca because of this. I know that we all have bad days, but she is miserable every time I go into that office. I was unable to rate the staff because of her, but if I eliminate that so called receptionist I would give the staff a 10. It really makes me wonder why they would keep her on staff.
Dr. Ricca practices the kind of medicine that, sadly, has now become obsolete. He is focused on his patients, brings a wealth of experience and intelligence to his work, and is thorough and devoted to his profession. Unlike many of the short-cutters and dollar-hungry physicians in this State (and neighborhood) who routinely subject patients to parasitic specialists & their unnecessary, cash-generating tests, Dr. Ricca will help you through a medical issue, is personable, and an internist in the tradition of the "family" doctor of the 1950s. His training at New York Medical College & Brown University is top notch. I recommend his medical practice to anyone who reads this passage. You can bring your family. We have benefited from his practice since 2000, when we moved to this idiotic State (Merck & 43rd in the country in medical care!) from New York.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
