Best doctor around !! he is so knowledgeable and is so nice, I had scoliosis and didn’t want to get a back brace and he told me all about the surgery he would do and today i feel great. highly recommend

When I was just 4 years old Dr. Avella operated on my elbow I was getting home from ballet class and fell and my elbow went inside out. My mom said I was so shy with everyone but I had no problem taking Dr. Avella's hand and going into surgery. He has fixed many of my bones since. My bones are weak so they break easily. Dr. Avella is not just my orthopedist he is my friend and I am now 13 year's old I survived and my arm is as good as new Thank's to Dr. Avella.

Dr. Avella operated on my 12 year old daughter's ankle. He was incredibly kind and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend him for any family that is in need of a pediatric orthopedic doctor.

This dr avella is a hack. He disfigured my daughters leg after 2 big procedures and antiquated fixater equipment. I question his judgement on being a competent dr. Thank God we took our daughter to Columbia Presbyterian in NYC to have his screw ups corrected !!! Long long road it was for my daughter due to this screwball. Physical scars and mental scars for a young girl. Thank you dr avella !!! Go elsewhere. Trust me. We trusted him and look what happened

Dr. Avella saw my son for 5 minutes and told him he should see an adult ortho since he was turning 18 and proceeded to bill me over $200.00 When I tried to argue the bill his wife is in the biling department and told me bill was justified because the doctor actually saw me. Ridiculous.

He left hardware in my ankle after surgery and only acknowledged (and REALIZED) this mistake years after surgery when I came to him with chronic pain. He laughed about it.

This dr Avella is a hack. Run away fast !!! He literally disfigured my daughters leg some years ago after 2 procedures when she was @ 8 and 10. Stupid us, we believed him after the first one didn’t work . He should be put out to pasture !!! Friggin disgraceful ! Please Go to Columbia in NYC for real treatment. This man sickens me and my entire family. What he said was : Sometimes things don’t Work out the way you intend !

My daughter fractured her wrist and i took her to the urgent pediatric care for xrays, brace and saw the pediatrician, she said to follow up with a pediatric orthopedic so i made an appointment with Dr Avella. I waited about 45 minutes to see him after filling out a book worth of documents, including a page that asked to give a credit card information incase you don't pay your bill(now i get it), which i thought was odd because i have insurance. My daughter literally saw the doctor 5 minutes, i bought the x-ray from the urgent care for him to see and she had a brace on her arm already from the urgent care too. He looked at the xray, examined her arm and told me to stop wearing the brace in 2 weeks and gave her a soft ball to exercise her hand. that was it, no xray , no brace, no manipulation nothing at all. I received by EOB and they are billing me $325 for office visit plus get this $2380 for a global billing code for broken arm.! They were rude and fraudulent ! never would refer!!!

Waited a long time to see Dr Avella. My son needed shoulder surgery. Since he was 17 and leaving for college Dr Avella suggested we go see an adult orthopedist. We were upset and disappointed but left after our 5 minute visit with him. Literally. When I then got a bill for over 200 .00 for nothing I couldn't believe it. I called the billing department and got to speak to his wife who threatened to call collections if I didnt pay. I told her to do what she needed to do. She proceeded to charge my credit card for the amount instead. Shady practice , rude staff...she went to speak Dr Avella and he also agreed I should be charged?? Really ? What doctor do you go to that tells you they can't or won't help you and still charges you? Shame on you Dr Avella. You have lost your common sense and decency. Beware.

Dr. Avella is a warm and compassionate doc. He has more experience than most and brings a world of knowledge in orthopedics into a personalized practice.
