I would like to start by mentioning the Cleanliness , The hospital is always nice and clean the staff are mostly Nice and curious most of the nurses were very kind and tried to the best of there abilities to assist the patient. And assure comfortability, especially i would like to thank Mr Oleg Rivkin the ceo for accommodating us with whatever possible as well i would like to mention a thank you for for Dr S Arora for his compassion and kindness by keeping us updated and explaining in detail the patient condition when we called , and the kind words while he reached out to us after the passing of our beloved mother and last but not least thank you to Rabbi JoelFried The hospital chaplain. For always being there for the family from the first Moment the paitent was Admitted he was there for us 24 hours a day .
Our mother suffered severe complications from cancer surgery, and came to Select Specialty Hospital after being in an ICU for an entire month. To say that she was a extremely complicated medical case is an understatement.Maha Asfour helped us step by step through the admissions process, patiently explained every step of the way, and helped us with some special details that we required. She is a true professional and cares deeply about the patients and their families. But she is far from the only friendly, gracious, generous and helpful person at Select Specialty Hospital. Literally everyone went out of their way and above and beyond during our mothers’ month long stay. One last note; NY does not have a comparable LTACH that’s privately owned and operated. We traveled over an hour each day each way to visit, and we still feel it was worth every awful minute in traffic.Thank you to everyone on the Select Specialty Team for having so much love to share with their patients and families.
My dad entered the hospital in a coma and on a ventilator. 5 weeks later he was awake and off the ventilator. These results were beyond the family's wildest expectations. The staff, from admission to discharge, delivered on every promise they made to us. They took care of my father as if he was their own. A special shout out to Maha Asfour who handling the admission process as smoothly as imaginable. Every thing she promised to us was delivered. Never an excuse or a reason why things couldn't be done. The nursing staff was always working with my dad, be it speech therapy or moving him daily from his bed to a chair and back. Always with a smile, I must add.Rabbi Fried, the Chaplin took special care to always visit my father. He was always in contact and made us feel someone was caring for him when we weren't their in person. The family has never had to make use of a facility like this previously, and we were a little unsure of what to expect at first, but Select delivered. Needless to say we are grateful for all they have done.
The five star rating is not sufficient for this facility. The entire staff, from the medical directors, the CEO Oleg Rivikin, the nursing and support staff, the technicians, and the facility management worked together to keep my father alive under the most extreme and difficult conditions.I want to specify the CEO's personal involvement with my father. Oleg requested to be my father's "patient advocate" during the time my father was in Select Specialty. He came by regularly to check on him and was always available to us for any concerns we may have had. When possible, they would even make exceptions to the visiting rules and restrictions, so long as it did not compromise the functioning of the entire unit. Those accommodations had one and only one focus - the well being of the patient - not the schedule of the family. The overall attitude and philosophy of the unit is to do anything and everything that benefited the patient's comfort and chances at recovery. At the same time, they gave realistic assessments of the patients condition, and when hope was still possible, optimism and encouragement. As an observant Jew, the staff was understanding and helpful to the best of their ability regarding issues of Shabbos, however, there too the focus remained always what was best for the patient. There is a bikur cholim room and some available services and the Rabbis in charge will do all they can to work with the family. They consider themselves an integral component of the overall staff. The Chaplain, Rabbi Joel Fried, was in constant contact with me regarding Shabbos plans and was personally responsible for arranging our being able to visit on Shabbos by interfacing with the security and nursing personnel. As a family, we are forever grateful for the care and consideration, compassion and concern that embraced all of us, especially our father, during a time of great stress and difficulty. They are truly something Special.Aron B. Tendler
Everyone here is very professional and taking excellent care of my brother. I am grateful for them and the hard work they do.
our beloved special brother Abraham suffered a massive stroke and was in critical condition for a long time, we r so grateful that we made the decision to select "select specialty hospital", there is no way to write with words the devotion from the entire staff which includes all nurses and social workers and all of the therapist which provided for him the entire day [and night] .And also big thanks to Rabbi/Chaplain Joel Fried for coordinating everything!!!
I would like to share my experience what we had for a couple of months at my father was staying here... My father was taken care from the nurses and doctors with so much love and care.... We felt so relaxed knowing that our father is being looked after and taking care of. And a special thanks to the chaplain Rabbi Fried. Who was so much there for us. What ever we needed halp .. Thank you to the entire staff
Our father Mr. Greenberg was in this place after he came home from the hospital, but still needed special care. We felt so safe and calm as we saw how nice and patient all the nurses were to our father. Especially we need to thank the chaplain Rabbi Fried for being here for us in this time of need. Whatever we needed he made sure to provide, with such great passion and care. THANK YOU AGAIN Rabbi Fried and all the special doctors and nurses!!!
My dad was admitted into Select Specialty after being intubated for a little over one month. The facility was clean and, once allowed, the visitation hours were reasonable. The nurses were professional and caring, especially Romy, Jonas, and Heather. The respiratory team, especially Mathew and Marianna, were knowledgeable and encouraging. The physical therapists Kim and Melissa were patient with my dad and knew how to motivate him to try more and more each day. The customer relations team was excellent; Maha and Maria kept my dad busy by visiting and checking in on him daily. They communicated with my step-mom and ensured that we had the information we needed. Maha and Maria made my dad feel like family by advocating for him to make sure that he got the proper care, treatment, and that all his needs were met.I would like to thank the staff at Select Specialty Northeast NJ for ensuring that my dad received the best care after being intubated. It is with their help, patience, and motivation that he was able to begin the trachea trials and begin the road to breathing without the ventilator.
Our mother spent a few months here and we were extremely impressed with the caring and sensitive staff. Although she was very ill, the doctors, nurses and respiratory therapists were committed to treating her and worked together with the family to respect our (many!) requests. The Chaplain, Rabbi Fried, was the liaison who communicated our wishes to the staff with much sensitivity and commitment. We are impressed and grateful
Horrible service if you do not want to see your family member die, look for another different help on this site those who call specialists do nothing for the patients they do not take special exams the nurses do not provide good service or help the patients the people who come to this hospital arrive to die there
SSH has been good to me and my family! Maha has been amazing! Right from the start she took care of us. She treated us like family and advocated so much for my father! Asnette the CNA was amazing, she always made sure my father was clean and his room was neat! She would always talk to my father as he was going through his tough delirium phase! Dr karim saved my fathers life! My father was a hard working man before contracting COVID, he was intubated and had severe delirium. It was the darkest time of our lives ! Dr karim called us everyday trying new methods and he figured it out! Within 2 days my father was much more calm, we finally saw the light. I can’t thank SSH for everything. Then there was respiratory, all of them were amazing especially Kevin,Debbie and Mariana ! They always made sure my father was comfortable. Their attention to detail was impeccable! Then Mike and Kim our rehab angels help my father sit up after 3 months of being bed bound! I can’t thank them enough. My father is now in a rehab hospital and is coming home soon! Thank you SSH for your excellent care! I will never forget what you have done for us!
My Home Care patient has been in Select for more than a month now. I’ve seen how the staff worked and dealt with her unstable condition. As a nurse myself, I admire how the staff cared for Judith with dignity and great compassion. Special mention to Linda and Muji (small but full of energy) from Nursing, Debbie, Sue, and Kevin from Respiratory Team. And to all the staff ( can’t remember all the names), I thank you so much.
Very few staffs are friendly. Visiting hours are 1-5 pm 1 person a day. They tell visitors there are no bathrooms to use for the visitor. Imagine an elder person with bladder and/or prostate issues. You are not allowed to leave the area not even to retrieve something in the car.As they advertised as hospital setting which they are not in Rochelle Park,NJ.We have several concerns regarding the treatment our mom, 1st and foremost, we do not get updates from your staff on any regular basis. We literally have to hunt someone down to get any information. The ventilator nurse stated if my mom had covid, I responded that my mom had 5 bypass surgery and stroke along with dementia and Alzheimer’s. I found it disconcerting that a medical professional treating my mother, wasn’t familiar with her case. We have requested several times she needed lexapro because she suffers from depression and needs the medication. They haven’t giving her it at all. My mom has gotten worse when she arrived there at Select specialist Hospital. Her weaning has decreased dramatically since she left Hackensack hospital. She was doing great at Hackensack hospital.they’re no commutation within staffs members. On the treatments of the patients. Passing the buck. The white board is never updated with correct information date /nurse /doctors/ etc. They would be hours we wouldn’t see a staff member checking up on her. They over medicated my mom on blood thinners and she had to go to ER. they didn’t even check her arms /hands that was very swollen. I had to tell them that and a nurse had to request an ultrasound sound on her arms. I was told she had two blood clots also. How did that happen you are there and I’m here twice a week seeing my mom. By the way if your looking for a Spanish speaking facility that’s not the place for it.
We had an outstanding experience with Select Specialty. Our family member suffered a brain aneurysm and after a month in the hospital was transferred to this facility. At the time of transfer she had a trach, PEG (feeding tube), and had just been brought out of a month of medical sedation. Thanks to the amazing work of the staff and doctors at Select by the time she was transferred to an acute facility (only two weeks later) she was able to breath on her own when the trach was capped, started moving parts of her body and was able to communicate. The team was hard working, dedicated to her recovery and worked with us diligently to ensure that she was moved to another facility that could help her recover further. This facility served as answered prayers for our family!
.I am unsatisfied with the outcoming of my mother in-law condition she is in coma but few days ago she opened her eyes this hospital have a bad communication with the doctors that seeing my mom very hard to reach especially with the neurologist doctor we ask him to call us and we haven't heard from him we ask to do EEG for the brain to knowledge if she in a vegetative state no respond either we need answers ASAP
Thank you so much Select specialty Hospital and staff! We are so grateful for giving my mom the most caring and devoted experience. My mom was admitted twice this year due to covid. Experience was really pleasant. Doctor called to check in daily and we are indebted to the most amazing Chaplain Rabbi Joel Fried the for checking in and making sure everything runs smoothly. We are so thankful to his devotion.
My father was infected with COVID, he was trached in a coma. We here looking for a good LTACH hospital, we decided on Select Specialty Hospital based on references.I would like to thank the staff for the excellent service they provide my father, Victoria the Case Manager was always available to help, a big shout out to the Chaplin Rabbi Joel Fried who was there for the family 24/7 and also ensured that his tablet was always workingNow after one month he is now off the vent and doing much better
Thank you Rabbi Joel Fried for all your help and assistance You were there for us all the time day night We have no words to express the exceptional devoted service and care that we experienced there It was exceptionaly dedicated care from the the chaplin the staff, doctors and nurses in such difficult times we cant thank you enoughThe Friedman family
SSH was a miracle place. My husband went there being vented for over 8 weeks, within a week he was off the vent and another week his trach was removed. They are miracle workers ! The staff was all very caring and that too helped in his recovery. I would absolutely recommend Select to anyone who needs this level of post ICU care. Now we're onto a sister facility getting better still. Too many great care workers to mention them individually. Ashley, George, MaryAnn, Matt, Dr Mizra, so many, sorry to those missed you are all angles. Thanks !
