List of Karl R. Blum's Reviews
As a Doctor he is one of the best 5 star. I've had two knee surgeries with him and would not ever thinking of goin to another, very down to earth easy to talk to.. This practice has many doctors to help with all needs of Orthopedic..
Have been going to Ocean Orthopedics for years. Almost always to Dr Karl Blum. I can’t say enough about how well the whole office treats you. They are amazing. Dr Blum is the most down to earth doctor you will meet. His skills are just as impressive. But it’s the person he is that’s most impressive. He goes above and beyond to help his patients. Thank you again for the help today.
Thank you doctor blum for helping me out today you and your staff are really kind
Dr. Blum was very nice. He explained the pros and cons of knee replacement. He took his time and was very informative.
Dr Blum has been our family orthopedist for years now. He’s been present consistently with every visit not caring how long your visit lasts just making sure that all your questions are answered! I’m a Cert.Surgical Tech and I’ve worked with the good the bad and the very bad Dr Blum is by far the Best of the Best! Fanstastic Fantastic Dr.
Got a few recommendations for knee specialist..first 2..staff so rude due them not being able to schedule for month said go someplace else we are catching up due to covid..moving on called Dr Blum office pleasant professional and most important empathize with me in pain ..made appt for 4 weeks but said CALL after noon even if you call everyday we are happy to let you know of cancellation as they do happen...same day after noon I called and appt was had for very next day....the entire staff great..hard to find these days...actually like their job...and cherry on top Dr Blum kind...explained all...took my entire med history for treatment plan on this issue and I felt listened to..also hard to find...highly recommend for REAL DOCTOR experience
After taking my son there two years ago for a break and being satisfied I went for myself due to horrible knee pain in which I've had three surgeries for over the span of three decades, the last two nothing showed on my MRI but once orthoscopy was done I was found to have problems that didn't show up but needed to be fixed!! I get an MRI which didn't show a tear and was told by Dr Blum that it's normal wear and tear due to "age" (49) and that because I'm on pain management that it sounds like " hyperalgesia" .. one important fact is that I take pain meds for spinal fusions and nerve damage, I made it a POINT to say that I'm not looking for meds, as I know there are people who Dr shop, and that I'm contracted by my PM Dr that I have to report anything prescribed otherwise my care will end. The Dr went on about how if I had surgery done I'd need more pain meds, and was strictly focused on that, not that I had pain, not that my knee had prior surgeries for similar circumstances, but that pain meds cause these pains... I was given a script for PT and felt written off... I was told that excruciating pain was more or less unlikely and attributed to my pain meds( I looked this up and there are limited studies AND not a lot of info on it) I told him that i wake up in the morning and can't move my knee, it brings tears to my eyes and said it was excruciating. I would have to wait and use my hands to move my leg, which hurt and then it was ok, but lingered most of the day. It was once every few months for quite some time but then started getting more frequent, which is why I went. From the second I walked into the office I felt like and was talked to like someone who was pill shopping, never asked who was my prior orthopedic (he retired a few years ago) , nothing .. I felt the attitude as soon as I sat down and it went downhill from there. I'd never go back, and now found a great orthopedic place thanks to the way I was treated! I decided that I would get a second opinion and went somewhere else that came highly recommended, what a difference!!! The Dr listened to me, asked about past surgeries, last orthopedic, etc. I know PT is usually required by insurance and my new Dr sent me and I went to aqua therapy for 3 weeks. Towards the end it started hurting and he did an orthoscopy, I had a small tear, my cartilage is basically gone but pieces were floating around and getting caught in the joints which is what caused that pain .... I understand there's an opioid crisis and Drs have to be cautious , but you don't treat everyone like their only there for meds, ESPECIALLY one who outright tells you they CANNOT be prescribed meds from another Dr and that does NOT want meds!! I'm finally out of that horrible pain, starting post op PT, and feeling so much better, thankfully I followed my instincts and went elsewhere or I'd still be in pain!
I have bad knees. My right knee is bone on bone. Dr. Blum is the best ortopedic doctor for knees that I have ever been to. I have been pain free for 3 months now and counting.
Dr Blum I have been seeing for 14 years now and he is 10 stars ! so is his nurse Sarah ! They both show nothing but the best care and concerns for you . Dr Karl Blum just done my bilateral knee replacement surgery . He is an excellent doctor to talk to and isn't by any mean un compassionate < or rude!! I would recommend him to everyone for he know"s what he is doing right the first time !! By the way he also did my right shoulder rotator cuff . He has a great sense of humor and also is very well known at the Pyramid Bldg as a great stick ( needle) I Like him . And so does so many other patients of his I has spoken to . Father GOD Bless Dr Blum !!
Very professional, personable and knowledgeable. Took time for the exam and discussion. Offered very reasonable treatment. The staff was great, very friendly and efficient. Highly recommend Dr. Blum!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
