List of MIchael J. Spedick's Reviews
Dr. Spedick and staff deserve 10 stars. I have been a patient for over 20 years. I had several eye emergencies and was seen the same day. The level of care is second to NONE! Thank you to all at Ocean Eye Institute!
Doctor Spedick is an excellent doctor, very thorough and engaging
My son was a patient of Dr. Spedick from the age of 14 months through age 18. The doc is great with kids.
warm, courteous staff. Doctor Spedick and his team are competent and personable. His office is very child friendly too! highly recommend!
Dr. Spedick is the best. He is so cheerful and full of life. I was there this morning for myself and my 11 yr old son, so he is great from 11-50 and beyond. Besides his wonderful "bedside" eye-side manner he is an excellent doctor. I have a close relative that is under his care for a serious eye condition and he has saved their eyesight. There isn't enough I can say about him. His office staff in Toms River is quite cheerful and competent too. Which is always a plus. Sometimes the doctor can be great and you have to deal with grumpy staff. Shout out to his assistant Nora who is so upbeat and a pleasure to deal with.
Took my daughter when she was 4 or 5..she's 37 now..he was wonderful..my daughter was never nervous..he's wonderful with children
Brought my 3 week old baby for an eye exam and he was so patient with her. Gave a very thorough exam and answered all of my questions. Highly recommend!
Horrific. My 7 y/o had to see Dr. Spedick for an emergency visit (he was recommended by a few people we knew). Somehow she had a small piece of metal stuck in her eye. I explained that our child had brain surgery the previous year and was a very tough little girl that appreciates honesty. From the moment he walked in the room I sensed the lack of compassion and patience from both Dr. Spedick and his female assistant. Our daughter was terrified when he neglected to explain what he was doing. After a few minutes of observing the metal and attempting to get it out he said to our 7 y/o "Fine you can just go to the hospital then and be put to sleep to get it out," as he proceeded to take his gloves off. HE WAS AWFUL! Then after 45 minutes, he thought he got the metal out then told me he can't find it! We left the office and the following day went to a different doctor to get it out- the amazing and Dr Mady! Spedick is rude and impatient. My daughter said "Mommy,I dont like the doctor!"
Horrific. My 7 year old had to see Dr. Spedick for an emergency visit (he was highly recommended by a few people we knew). Somehow she had a small piece of metal stuck in her eye. The office staff was pleasant, professional and our appointment was on time. I explained that our child had brain surgery the previous year and was a very tough little girl that appreciates honesty. From the moment he walked in the room I sensed the lack of compassion and patience from both Dr. Spedick and his female assistant. Our daughter was terrified when neglected to explain what he was doing, specifically after I mentioned that he needs to tell her the truth. He was very short with her and after observing the metal explained to her only after a few minutes of trying to get it out, "Fine you can just go to the hospital then and be put to sleep," as he proceeded to take his gloves off. HE WAS AWFUL!!! My poor kid was aggravating him because she was scared and questioning him. She almost passed out and he got her an old blanket and told her to lay flat on the floor on her back. INSANE! I wanted to walk out but knew he had the upper hand and there was still metal in her eye. After a 1/ 2 hour he said "I got it", then said "but I don't know where it is?" He wasn't able to locate the metal and told me if she's still pain come back in two days and walked out. I was blown away. My daughter whispered in my ear "I don't like them mommy?" The ignorant assistant told me if she was a little more cooperative then he would have been able to find the metal. I told her "She's 7, and has never been to eye doctor and that he was awful and unprofessional!" The next day we went to LBI to a family eye doctor -not pediatric just for an evaluation because she now couldn't open her eye. He explained that he sees the metal and a rust ring and we need to get Dr. Spedick to finish the job he started immediately because he is pediatric. Now our 7 year old is sobbing that she doesn't want to go back to the mean doctor. Then he suggested we visit another pediatric eye doctor, same practice, Dr Mady. So we did! This incredible doctor took her in immediately. She was kind, patient and determined to get the metal and rust ring out. It took her approximately 8 minutes! She said our daughter was amazing and strong.....It was simply because the doctor showed compassion and empathy. This is the doctor you want to bring your children to. Dr. Spedick should retire. WORSE doctor I've ever encountered!!!!!!! I would never return or recommend to anyone!
Was very friendly,thorough and clean

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
