List of Howard Sharf's Reviews
I am forever grateful for Dr. Sharf. He is professional, kind, and very knowledgeable. I went to him for a second opinion regarding my herniated discs. He answered all my questions and concerns. I never felt hurried or ignored. Dr. Sharf truly listens to me. I had a disc replacement surgery and it was a total success. Thank you Dr. Sharf!
My mom is gone most likely due to Dr Staff's negligence, plain and simple. Mom had terrible lower back pain. Dr Sharf eventually performed kyphoplast on two vertebrae, it helped a little. Sometime during or after surgery, eventually another fractured vertebrae was found on an MRI which was again treated by Vertebroplasty (formerly referred to as kyphoplasty) and this time was perfection, mom was walking around the room same day.A yearish later my mom had the same pain so we went to emergency room at St Pete General where Dr Sharf was performing the Vertebroplasty. My mom knew the pain and expected surgery. Instead, no MRI at that time, just P.T., which was extremely painful. On day 5 I finally took mom for an MRI. On day 7 Dr Sharf just wanted mom out of the hospital and set her up with rehab. Mom was scheduled for the move when I got the MRI report. I was calling Dr Sharf's office, no one could find him until I saw him walk past mom's room, his pace picking up when he saw me but I caught up and handed him the MRI report showing another fracture, as my mom had explained " it's the same pain close to the other fractures". He decided she needed the P.T.Mom went thru the program in severe pain and was struggling on a walker. 4 months out of the hospital we had a recheck, mom still in pain. We were told she hadn't had an MRI in a year as I pulled an extra copy of the MRI report from 4 months ago. The next day mom was in the hospital getting the Vertebroplasty. This time mom was so weak from the pain she had heart problems (she had also lost about 14lbs that she couldn't afford to lose). The next 10 days my mom went back and forth into intensive care afib. Finally she had to get a pacemaker. Thanks Dr Sharf.Eventually mom had another Dr perform her final Vertebroplasty with no trouble.Mom never was able to gain the weight and strength back, that's a result of Dr Sharf's ignoring the MRI report I placed in his hand AND did not include it in her file. His actions are negligent. Because of his non action and most likely concern that Medicare was probably not happy my mom sat in the hospital that he performs surgery in and did nothing for a week and now wanted her out. No Hippocratic oath in my mom's case, just pass her elsewhere Knowing she needed the exact same surgery he had performed TWICE in one(ish) year.Even I couldn't get Dr Sharf to do his job, imagine if your parent had no advocate, not that Dr Sharf paid any attention to me.DR SHARF DOES NOT CARE ABOUT PATIENTS or PEOPLE! BEWARE, GO ELSEWHERE TO LIVE A HEALTHY LIFE.BTW, Dr Sharf as described by others barely spends a minute or two and passes you off to a P.A. like other reviews mention.
I had a positive experience with Dr.Sharf. He explained everything carefully, answered all my questions, and was able to provide quality care which relieved my pain. Other doctors I went to were not able to do that. Thanks!

When I went to Dr. Sharf, when his office was in Pinellas Park, I was in terrible pain. He was very patient and carefully explained his diagnosis and options to me and my wife. Surgery was the only real option. After Dr. Sharf performed the surgery on my spine and a reasonal time of rehabilitation, I am 100% pain free. If I or a member of my family has back issues, Dr. Sharf will be the ONLY doctor that I will go to.

I am a disabled Army veteran and was charged $150.00 for the doctor to fill out a veteran’s disability form, in which he did not complete the form in its entirety nor accurately, so I was unable to use the form. I have since requested a refund, but staff will not return my calls. A medical group that rips off veterans is just deplorable. Patients and veterans beware!

I had to see him twice due to a work related injury.. both times I felt that his medical treatment regarding my care was driven by pleasing the insurance company/my employer and not what was medically/patient centered care. After my visit with him the second time, I left the office in tears. I would avoid him like the plaque. Recently I broke my ankle and thankfully had the good fortune of being treated at Morton plant by Dr. Herema. He is a orthopedic surgeon who is ethical and cares.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
