List of Genpsych Wayne's Reviews
I just finished 8 weeks at Genpsych & I feel that I now have the tools to cope. Before I started Genpsych, I was unable to process my emotions and control my reactions. I was struggling with every aspect of my life. After completing program, I am able to reflect on the previous version of myself. It's safe to say that I feel very accomplished and proud of myself for how far I've come.No program is perfect, you get out what you put into it. The negative reviews below, while valid, seem to be isolated situations. Go into the program with an open mind & remember that a lot of the sessions are group sessions. Sometimes it may get boring to listen to others, but everyone is there for their own reasons. We all go through our struggles & deal with them differently. Genpsych provides you with a cushion of support from a multitude of professionals & fellow peers who are feeling similar.
Overall, GenPsych was an amazing experience that has trended my life in the right direction to developing effective coping skills. My therapist and the kind and strong people I met who also attended group are who made it. I wouldn't have been able to learn the skills without them and their feedback and support. The ladies at the front desk are also all so lovely, I loved chatting with them as I checked in.But I don't think I would've had that overall experience if I had any other individual therapist. There was not any harmony among the different therapists about how to conduct groups. Quality itself also varied wildly depending who was running group. I understand it was probably because of staffing, but the director, a supervisor, or even another therapist did not once sit in on groups to guarantee quality. No program is perfect, but when I experienced discrimination here, I was invalidated by the director and all other therapists. When it first started happening even after multiple times, they encouraged me to confront myself, which I did (which I now know I shouldn't have had to do, this was also not virtual and you can never know what someone is capable of). They kept doing it, so even if something was said it clearly wasn't getting through and they were still allowed to attend program. When I got visibly upset the last time, I was "overreacting." I got "in trouble" for leaving the room when I felt unsafe there for my identity being attacked (I am an adult). My diagnosis was used against me. The director never reached out to me to check in after our last conversation about it. Bigotry is tolerated here and it is NOT a safe space. As the therapists and director said themselves, at GenPsych it's a "microcosm of the real world." Which is just not how therapy should be. There's a group rule that triggering topics are not allowed, so why was this? This was the way I was born, not my political identity or favorite ice cream. And here it was also supposed to be therapy, a safe space. By the time I left, there was not an understanding of how severe what I experienced was, though I did voice it again at the end.I do not recommend going here if you are part of a marginalized community and you might want to talk about it in any capacity (so much as mentioning a song or story). I hope it never happens to anyone else here. You are going to a program like this to heal, you don't deserve to hear bigotry, tolerate it, validate it, or ever carry the burden of defending yourself alone like I had. Several mental health professionals in other agencies and private practices have agreed with me. As well as the amazing things I got out of my experience, I also left GenPsych with more trauma and an increased distrust in the field. As my individual therapist no longer works for them, and the turnover rate is high (all 3 therapists who ran the DBT track cycled through by the time I left...100% turnover in three months....yikes) I cannot wholeheartedly recommend Wayne GenPsych. But if you are looking for a DBT program that actually takes insurance (unfortunately rare and DBT itself is great !!), I still think you should consider it. Advocate for yourself and ask questions about how they handle these things now. Maybe it will change with new management, an understanding of how teaching DBT skills need to be shifted with experiences of bigotry/discrimination (I was told to validate it....), and if they can simply retain their employees. If you're not biased towards DBT, there are many other PHP/IOP programs in Passaic and Bergen that DO take insurance and have strong policies to handle these issues. If you can pay up front for a DBT program, go there instead.
Genpsych did nothing but make my life harder.I am a shut in who has issues leaving the house and dealing with crowds. I inquired about some sort of group, and suddenly I'm forced into the group, I don't do well in groups. Therapist calls me telling me "I'm not right for this program" and in essence told me to give up.They kicked me out of the program, and I had to go cold turkey off all my medications(y'know the safest thing a caring facility could do right?)This was after 2 years being on meds through this organization, they just tossed me out the windowMy life is worse now than when it started, I at least had meds before but now I sit in bed all day doing nothing and unable to do anything about it because of my conditions thanks a lot
As a staff member, Genpsych has helped me grow a stronger love for this career. All other staff are extremely informative, kind, and helpful with any questions that I may have. My job position has given me opportunity for growth and experience new responsibilities. I enjoy getting the chance to work with not only the clients but their parents as well.
When I started the program I was at an all time low point in my life. The Genpsych program in wayne helped me gain skills that I will forever be grateful for. I can now say I am in the healthiest mental state I have been in my entire life. The Psychiatrist, all of the therapist , and Manny the director were very caring , helpful , and understanding. They encouraged me and gave me the confidence to pull through. Never once did I feel judged, or like my issues were not important. Thank you Genpsych for such a life changing experience. You guys work so hard in such a difficult and underserved profession. Sincerely, thank you for all you do .
I went to GenPsych after going inpatient during what I consider the worst time in my life up until this point, and this program helped me a lot with my mental health. The skills they teach are very effective and useful and I loved all of the therapists at this location. Any problems or issues I had were easily resolved and I felt comfortable expressing myself and my story. The groups were always insightful and helped with my socialization. Definitely changed my life for the better, I’m extremely thankful for all the help I received and I feel confident going back to my life now!!
I learned a lot about myself and learned how to cope. The staff was very good. My therapist was the best I ever had. I wanted to take him with me. My only issue was I thought it was too fast. It’s a lot to learn in a few weeks. I also think I could have used five days a week longer than I was. But overall you will come out feeling better
My personal experience here was the worst facility I have ever been too. Very unprofessional staff and team I had. Never going back to genpsych.
Thanks to GenPsych's caring staff and engaging therapy sessions, I was able to overcome many of my emotional hardships and open an awareness to myself and my growth. I highly recommend their services to anyone who wishes to tackle their own problems with those who understand.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
