As background, for several years I suffered from lower back pain and restricted movement. Most recently I had difficulty walking long distances and standing up straight due to tightness in my back. I finally decided to contact a spine surgeon and made an appointment with Dr. Nikhil Sahai at University Spine Center. He listened to my description of my symptoms, took my medical history, and did a thorough examination, including ordering an X-ray and an MRI. He determined that one of the nerves in my lower spine was being compressed, plus I had a buildup of arthritis in the area, all of which was causing my pain and restricted movement. We discussed treatment options and agreed that a minimally invasive surgical procedure would provide me with the most relief. In April 2023 my same-day surgery was performed successfully at St. Joseph’s Hospital. It’s amazing that an incision of only 1.5 inches was needed! Almost immediately following the surgery, I felt so much better! I had only minor postsurgical pain, which subsided after a few days. I was also encouraged to take short walks during my recovery, first using a walker and then without, to keep my back from tightening up. A few weeks have passed since the surgery and I’m getting around very well with no more pain. If you’re dealing with back pain, I highly recommend a visit to Dr. Sahai! He provided me with compassionate care, described the surgical procedure in great detail, answered all of my questions, and listened to my concerns at every step of the way. My overall experience with him and his team was excellent!

My experience was great the staff the dr. And the nurse practitioner they are very caring Dr Sahai is the best surgeon and he knew exactly what will fix my problem the pain I was having was the worst ever and now I'm pain free.

Dr. Sahai took care of my husband for a herniated disc and cord compression in his neck. He explained everything in detail and made us feel at ease going forward with surgery! My husband had very little discomfort after and is doing awesome!! We would definitely recommend Dr.Sahai and University Spine Center !!!

We met Dr Sahai as a follow-up after an ER visit. My husband was experiencing worsening back pain that was impairing his mobility. After a series of tests, a lumbar fusion procedure was performed. University Spine and Dr. Sahai addressed our concerns, answered questions and responded promptly. Dr. Sahai followed up after surgery with visits and phone calls. He is very easy to communicate with and explains medical procedures in a clear manner. The office staff (Taylor George especially) is accommodating and pleasant. Taylor helped relay our questions and concerns to Dr. Sahai. Before and after surgery, we were well informed of what to expect. Back surgery is never a pleasant experience, but University Spine and Dr. Sahai helped us navigate our way through it with care, compassion and excellent medical expertise.
