One of the best office I have even come across. The most wonderful and caring staff. Thank you so much Elka and Dr. Geftor for going out to you way to accommodate us as new patients. You really understood or concerns and can't be more grateful.
Life-Changing Care – Highly Recommend Dr. Igor Gefter Dr. Igor Gefter has truly changed my life. He’s not just a psychiatrist—he’s a compassionate, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable professional who genuinely cares about his patients. From the very beginning, I felt heard, seen, and understood. He uses a variety of techniques tailored to your specific needs, and his approach is both thoughtful and effective. As someone in the LGBTQ+ community, I can’t emphasize enough how refreshing and empowering it is to have a doctor who truly listens and understands the unique challenges we face. Dr. Gefter creates a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can be your full self. His empathy, insight, and support have made a profound difference in my mental health journey. I recommend him to all my friends who are seeking help. If you’re looking for someone who not only treats but truly gets it, Dr. Gefter is the one.
Melissa whyte is the BEST... until chris thomas took over and took her away from me. I suffer from extreme ptsd and agoraphobia. With no notice or warning he decided i no longer needed help. He had never spoken to me! He should not be in mental health. Or in charge of determining someone's health care
DO NOT GO HERE, DO NOT USE THEM. Dr. Mohammed was extremely ignorant, very prideful, and clearly not trained to handle varying situations.
I had the pleasure of meeting with Andrea Torres today. She was kind, articulate, and took the time to truly understand my needs. She even followed up with a phone call to ensure everything was in my best interest—something that’s refreshing to see these days. Highly recommend!
Emailed office twice before my initial appointment about obtaining my past evaluation using the release of information I filled out in their new client paperwork. I never got any response and my provider seemed unclear that a release of information was part of the new client paperwork & that they would’ve been fully able to obtain my records prior to our appointment if office staff communicated about this with her. That being said, after doing not one minute of chart review or actual review of my previous evaluation, and speaking to me for 45 minutes, Jessica M decided to challenge my initial diagnosis with no supporting evidence or a clear differential diagnosis. She didn’t even pose that perhaps what she was suggesting would be potentially co-occurring with my adhd (I came home to research & found 50% of adult women with adhd have concurring anxiety), but clearly was suggesting I did not have adhd because I wasn’t diagnosed in childhood, but as an adult. Things that NP stated that can be disproven by evidenced based articles: - adhd would have been caught by a parent or teacher in younger school age because you would’ve had behavior issues or issues in school - Adults do not get diagnosed with adhd later in life (the studies on how many women slip through the cracks are heartbreaking.) - Neuropsychiatric testing is the “gold standard” of adhd diagnosis as opposed to a thorough clinical interview and review of records/history/functioning in various areas of life. In fact, what I’m reading online clearly states that neuropsychological tests often do not have the sensitivity or specificity to parse out ADHD. What they are often used for is to support a clinical interview by ruling out cognitive difficulties like TBI, dyslexia, etc that must be ruled out before settling on adhd. It would seem this is most useful for children and adolescents and studies show is not very helpful or telling in cases of adults, especially those of high intelligence. This is exactly one of the supporting arguments for why highly intelligent children who could easily complete their work & who liked to follow rules and please adults, were more inattentive than hyperactive/acting out- this exact bias is why we slip through the cracks. What is really sad is I wasn’t even coming in with things I discovered on my own or on tik tok or something (where I may understand some skepticism) , these were ideas I worked through with a PHMNP back in 2020, who I trusted and respected very much, & then I was subsequently followed by 2 other behavioral health providers who never raised concern about the accuracy of said diagnosis. It really felt as though this provider mainly works with young children. It seems impossible to be an expert in everything from childhood to geriatric… the providers at this practice should really include more of their specific specialties in their bios. And for the love of god put the 988 number on your website and maybe your email signatures because it was actually disturbing for a provider to argue with me about it “being number 262 in New Jersey.” This is not the case these numbers serve different purposes…. When I said “no 988 is nationwide I was there for the rollout working the lines as the states received their government funding” she could’ve just conceded that she may have forgotten the specifics, but instead doubled down stating that 988 IS actually “262 in New Jersey.” That is such a red flag I cannot even begin to describe. I would hope these providers have understanding that not every person in crisis requires emergency psychiatric help/ admission. Just the thought that they don’t know the difference between after hours support #s is extremely distressing and downright dangerous to potential patients.
I do not know about all Wayne Behave but... Dr. Gefter is outstanding - he is empathetic and very knowledgable. He takes his time to understand and open to experiment when it is needed. God Bless you Doctor.
I honestly couldn’t ask for a better doctor than Dr. Prakope. She is always there for me whenever I need her and she’s always there to listen. She’s helped me through a lot and I really appreciate her. I highly recommend seeing her.
There are doctors/clinicians, and then there is Dr. Carrie Prakobe. Dr. Prakobe makes me feel heard, but even more, shows an understanding that helps me feel comfortable while confiding extremely challenging emotions and experiences. She has helped me confront the most difficult situations I've endured thus far in life, and for that, I will be forever IMMENSELY grateful for care that goes above and beyond typically medical standards. It's hard to come by a doctor that treats their patients like a human being as opposed to a dollar sign, leaving patients with an unsettled feeling after an unfocused demeanor through a rushed appointment after waiting sometimes over an hour for a scheduled appointment. I have never had to wait more than ten minutes for an appointment, and Dr. Prakobe has even accommodated me in last minute emergency or unexpected experiences. She takes the time to examine the root of an issue and ALWAYS remembers to follow-up without any prompt towards the topic. The time she takes to get to know her patients on a genuine, deeper level is refreshing in the medical field and absolutely appreciated by this patient!!! There are moments I never thought I would have experienced throughout my life that Dr. Prakobe has helped me get through- not around- and without her, I'm sure that it would have been the other approach to solving these issues.
This place is notorious for their questionable ethics. I highly recommend anyone using these services to record ALL of your sessions. Learn what your rights are, they will regularly try to confuse and mislead you. It may seem this is the only place that has the services you need if you are also in legal trouble, not true. Look for a private OASAS certified social worker, I think there is one in Newark even…Peters I think. You can do session in a private office that will respect you and your privacy.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
