Alaris Health At West Orange's Online Review Report Card

Please do NOT let your love one stay here the staff does care about the health and safety of your loved one. There are people there that prey on the sick and helpless instead of making them comfortable they torture them. Keep your loved far away from this facility.

We were fortunate to have my mother spend the last year of her life at Alaris West Orange NJ. In a year that was difficult for everyone, but especially those in nursing homes, our parents, Grandparents , Aunts and Uncles, and their families, it was very difficult. But also for those who still had to do their best, the care workers at these facilities it was not easy as well. The staff at Alaris always kept their patients health a first priority and never wavered. But just as important, they never lost their smiles and tender touch for their residents. Thank you Alaris, the purple lady thanks you as well. 🙏

Please if you can , do your best to not send your loved ones to nursing homes. I know and they know sometimes we have no other choice . Sadly my mom was there , and even though when some of the staff was very nice , there were some aides that would even hide and let the patients ringers to call for help sound for hours. Sometimes going near rooms , you could smell pee . I feel sad for those patients.My mom had ALS , and some aides refused to help me shower her. Only one aide helped me , she was such an angel to my mom . I know ALS is a rare disease, but some aides didn't know how to deal with her illness. My sister and I were trying to get her home somehow, but we couldn't do it on time. One day on our regular daily visit I found her unresponsive, without pulse , not breathing with her oxygen mask on , she had died, by herself in that place . I never forgive myself this . It hurts me to write this review because I know many other patients are there and don't have a voice .

If they could get a zero, I would do this. My Mom was their one year ago, because I had to get her out of Care One in Livingston, NJ due to their negligence. I had to find a bed fast as it was New Years Eve and the Case Manager at St. Barnabas ER said my Mom would have to return to Care One if I could not make phone calls and find a bed, she gave me a list, I could hardly speak I was so upset. She was admitted with dehydration and a history of recently vomiting blood. Subsequently, she went to Alaris, who neglected to assess for a human beings signs and symptoms, I did and sent her to the hospital again, I had to called 911 my self, she required 3 units of blood and the physician extracted 2 pounds of feces out of her. (She could have required a Colon Resection). I had asked the Nurses and aids about her bowel movements etc. Rude and disrespectful responses. Asked Alaris this facility for the names of all aids and Nurses Etc. who "cared" for her no response from the facility. Fly's all over the dining/ recreation area, ice machine not working so they placed an igloo ice container, with a cup in it so peoples hands would going into the ice to scoop it out, disgusting Please do not send your loved one their. It is so sad, my question is Police have to take a Psychological exam prior to being a Policeman, why is their "Nada" Psych. examines from the owners down to housekeeping in the "Health Care Industry". Emotional Murder/abuse and neglect " the silent epidemic in Nursing homes". I hope this helps some one.

I brought both my parents to Alaris in Cedar Grove.  The care was subpar, the staff uncaring, nurses rude.My dad went in walking, talking and eating on his own and in 1 year declined to being put in a wheel chair, not able to feed himself and lost over 30 lbs. If he would be asleep they would leave his food on the tray and walk away.  He missed many meals because of their incompetence.The aides broke his hearing aide several times, lost his glasses, lost my mom's dentures several times.Its a disaster there.  I wouldn't give it 1 star but I had to in order to post this review.Do not send your loved ones to this place.  You will be sorry.

Really like this facility.Very clean and beautiful atmosphere.The clinical team is extremely helpful and knowledgeable.Mrs. Giles the Administrator is wonderful with the patients and families.Strongly recommend

This placed is very clean, organized and friendly. Staff was very helpful in providing information and directions as needed. Would recommend to anyone.
