List of MItra Abessi's Reviews
Where do I begin. I was a patient of Dr. Kelsey's practice for 15+ years. Transitioned to Dr. Abessi. I worked in a professional field and know how to speak to people/clients, etc. Recently, had a Annual Physical...short and sweet. I was a little concerned about not being able to lose weight....I am over 65, 5'6 weight 158. Dr. Abessi told me if I am that vain and do not like what I see when I look in the mirror, lapband surgery or tummy tuck she can recommend a good plastic surgeon! Well thanks for that very professional tip! I'm out of there after that comment.
I had one very discouraging experience with Dr Abessi, during a time of great need in my life. I had gotten a very serious diagnosis and had been told that she was very good to consult with. My experience couldn't have been farther from that. I don't normally mind grumpy people or professionals who are eccentric and hard to get along with, but who are worthwhile to include on my team. However, I was treated in a very humiliating way by Dr Abessi, who for some reason is listed as a surgeon here, but is not as far as I know. I was vulnerable, in pain and very stressed with my health issues. I was led to believe she could help, if I could get past her personality. I didn't think that would be a problem, however it def was. She was dismissive of my concerns and that I was uncomfortable waiting on a closed cold exam room for an hour to see her, and being made to wait in a hospital gown (for no reason I was made aware of-my issues were internal and not subject to an external exam.) Hospital gowns may be necessary for certain procedures, but wasn't needed here, and made me feel more vulnerable and treated like my humanness didn't matter. It took away my feeling of personal dignity and comfort. Being naked except for a paper thin gown intensified my feelings helplessness due to my diagnosis and felt like I was being treated like an object instead of a human being. When she finally arrived she was insensitive, uncaring and extremely critical of me expressing my needs as a patient. I realized quickly that she was never going to be a good doctor for me, and I caution anyone who wants to have an open and caring dialogue with their doctor, to look elsewhere. Very upsetting experience that has taken a long time to even write this review about. I hope it helps someone avoid the painful and upsetting experience I had with Dr Abessi. I'm grateful I found other doctors who were willing to listen and respect my dignity as a patient.
Perhaps because it was a med refill appt, but this was the most rushed encounter I have ever had with a doctor. Did not want to discuss any of my issues - just wanted to refer out. But still looked in my mouth and noted that I had a tremor and asked if I had ever seen a neurologist! Completely unrelated to the matter at hand and very scary. No further advice given on that. And for the referrals, no specific doctor recommendations. Just a list of general numbers for other Hunterdon system departments. Really felt bad coming out of there. Feels like you are totally on your own in today’s medical “systems.” Doctors don’t appear to care about people anymore.
Was very disappointed in seeing dr. Mitra. She and her office never called about my blood work but lied and said they did. Then she missed my virtual consultation and called randomly 45 minutes later. I said I can reschedule and she scolded me saying she sees 100’s of patients and can’t be on time. No one should be talked down to like that. Go see your “100s” of patients. Her bedside manner and clinical knowledge is awful and I will never return.

Awful, condescending physician! She spoke down to me as if she was the only doctor in the world. I am an attorney and come from a family of doctors but most importantly, I am human. She should come back to planet Earth and learn about patient care or get out of healthcare!
I had a new patient visit with Dr Abessi who came highly recommended by my neurologist. I waited for 35 minutes for an 8:30 am appointment. After some initial chit chat I asked if she had a sense of how long the appointment would be to which she responded “if you care about time, I’m not the person for you”. I then suggested that if that’s the case, perhaps her office should let people know that when ...
I have never met a physician like Dr. Mitra Abessi, she literally has treated me as if I was part of her family! I’ve had numerous health challenges and for some years was lost in the minutia of going to various specialists without any improvement. She took charge of my case and went above and beyond working with referred doctors to help me obtain the right diagnosis. At this point, my whole family goes to her and enjoys the same benefits in dealing with such a genuine, caring doctor. I cannot recommend her enough! Thank you for everything Dr Abessi!
I have been seeing Dr Abessi for many years. I have followed her since her move from Belle Meade. I now drive almost an hour to see her and it is definitely worth my time. Dr Abessi is a direct, very thorough physician. She has always taken the time to explain things to me.I feel listened to and we together have found answers to what has been wrong with me. She has ordered necessary tests that are always followed up on with a treatment plan when the office receives reports. Dr Abessi has referred me to excellent specialists when needed. I trust her and feel comfortable in discussing all of my concerns. I feel blessed to have her as my doctor. Her office staff and nurses are professional, kind and caring.
I made an initial appointment with Dr. Abessi at the high recommendation of a friend, for shoulder pain. Upon Dr. Abessi, she told me that I looked facially deformed due to a recent jaw surgery, and that she was surprised nobody had told me the 'truth of my appearance by now'. I had undergone extensive surgery to correct a breathing disorder and being told I was Deformed as a result was awful ...

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
