He was kind, professional but very human at first meeting. I had enough confidence in him from that first visit to go ahead with spinal surgery. He did a great job (his PA too!) and he was successful in fixing my sciatica problem. I would highly recommend him for his skill and compassion.

Dr Otero is great. His medical assistant vicki and his receptionists are terrible. Vicki crespin thinks she can make medical decisions for people when she isn't a doctor and will invalidate you like you aren't a person. His receptionists like to hang up on you and tell you their policies and "I don't know what to tell you" when looking for help from this office. I haven't been able to walk in almost 2 months. Then I was told by the supervisor if I see another doctor at nm orthopedics I'd never be dr oteros patient again and he'd never do another surgery on me if I needed it just because I asked to be seen for an injection. Do yourself a favor and look for another office. Dr Otero is going to lose a lot of patients because of the women who.work in his office. The only decent receptionist who.worked their told me I am not the only one with a complaint about vicki crespin and coco the receptionist.

I have been a patient of Dr. Otero-Lopez and Kari Lavigne, PA-C for about 6 months. During this time they (and the staff at NM Ortho) have done the testing, analysis, and diagnosis of the degenerative disk disease in my cervical spine. Throughout this process which culminated in ACDF surgery they have been incredibly professional, competent, and compassionate. My first attempt at surgery was cancelled due to unrelated medical conditions but they continued to work with me and my cardiologist on getting me healthy enough to perform the procedure. They absolutely jumped through hoops to make my surgery happen. The procedure was done and now I am recovering and healing. Thanks to the incredible efforts of Kari, Dr. Otero-Lopez and their staff I am getting my life back. From being in chronic pain 24 hrs a day and not being able to do hardly anything physical, I now have hope that I will resume an active and a happy life. I can only say THANK YOU to these great medical professionals.

Very thorough with information about my personal back issue. He was/is cautious to just jump into surgery because I am in pain to ensure all other less intrusive possible remedies are tried first. Takes the time to listen and problem solve with the patient or at least with me.

Dr. Otero is an exceptional physician- professional, well trained, knowledgeable and a perfect gentleman. The wife of a physician and the daughter of a prominent surgeon on the East Coast, those who know me know how particular I am about the physicians who care for me. Dr. Otero basically gave me my life back again after becoming almost nonfunctional due to sciatic pain which I suffered from for 2 years. I highly recommend him.

When I came out from under the antisceptic, I felt immediate relief from pain. I never was in pain. He came to see me everyday early in the morning. He is very compassionate and kind. I highly recommend him for spinal surgery.
