I'm a doctor and I see Dr Himmel for a cornea issue. He's a great guy and a great doc. Sometimes moves a bit too quickly, but given that he's one of only a few anterior eye specialists in the state of NM, he has to do what he has to do to stay on top of things for each patient. Very happy he's my doc.

Dr. Himmel performed a DMEK procedure on my eyes. For 8+ months after my surgery, my eyes would bleed upon lifting things with only moderate weight. I knew this could not be normal; however, upon reporting this to Dr. Himmel, he was unconcerned and said there was nothing that could be done. One day it was so bad that I sheduled an appointment so that he could see it but Dr. Himmel was not there to see me. Another doctor (an audiologist) looked at my eye and said that he had never seen anything like this before and there was nothing he could do. There was no follow-up and no one reached out to me. I began researching the Presnisolone anti rejection drops that I was required to use daily and discovered that this steriod is dangerous. Based on my copious research, I suspected that the drops might be the cause of my eye bleeds so I weaned myself off of them. Not surprisingly, the bleeding completely stopped immediately after stopping the Presnisolone. If I had not been tenatious in doing my own research, and if I had continued to use the Presnisolone, I might be blind today. Another thing, Dr. Himmel never mentioned that I would have to use Presnisolone drops for the rest of my life prior to my surgery. The lack of communication, care and professionalism from Dr. Himmel, and Eye Associates is why I am writing this review. Once you have your surgery, and they have your money, you're on your own if you have a problem. Please beware!

Dr. Himmel and his assistant, Kayla, took great care of me. A master of knowledge and impeccable skills, Dr. Himmel addressed my eye needs to great expectations. I highly recommend his services!

He knew exactly what was wrong and he set me up with a surgeon to correct my problem he was very kind.

For many year my visits had very good results. It is sad that management Department did not allowed my son and I to continue seeing Dr. Himmel. But more sad was that Dr. Himmel allowed it, we did not bad, it was retaliation due a fair complaint that we did. We found a very good doctor in Denver Colorado, GOD did not left us alone..

I have had Dr. Himmel as my doctor since 2010. He performed surgery on my left eye for cataract and Fuchs' Distrophy in 2012. I am very satisfied with the results and will have surgery by Dr. Himmel in 2020 on my right eye to treat a cataract and my Fuchs' Distrophy in 2020. He has followed up with me semi-annually and he is always professional, informative and supportive. As a very busy doctor, I appreciate that he is always friendly and warm.

Dr. Himmel is very knowledgeable and instills confidence in patients. Even with complicated corneal issues, he instills patience and is very efficient.

The receptionist was really rude and didn’t want to help anyone with answering questions. The rest of the staff was awesome.

Eye Associate of New Mexico is filled with the best Dr's. They have been life changing for me from the time I was 9 yrs old and I am now in my late 50's. Two sets of transplants later. I am still able to function on a daily basis. They are a blessing from God !!

From healing infected ulcers on my cornea, to cataract surgery, Dr Himmel has given professional, compassionate, successful treatment. He inspires confidence in his patients.
