List of Holly Abernethy's Reviews
If possible Dr. Abernathy would get a 10 star rating from me. On your appointments, she listens carefully, her office manner is to discuss with you in laymen's terms what she diagnosed and the treatment she recommends. But above and beyond all that she truly cares, she goes way beyond what most other physicians will do. It is like you have stepped back in time to old time patient care!
Dr. Abernathy would be a awesome Dr., if she didn't let her political views sway the way she respects and treats her patients.
Dr.Abernathy is the kindest most caring physician in San Juan County. Dr.Abernathy cares about her patients, you’re not just a number to her. Abernathy gives excellent medical care.
Dr. Abernethy is our family doctor. She is a very professional, caring, & compassionate M.D. My 3 boy's absolutely love going to see her every year. I find her to be excellent with special needs children.
First, I'd like to state, after reading the reviews of Dr. Abernathy, that all the negative reviews had NOTHING to do with her as a professional or as a doctor & more to do with practice protocal & which Dr. Abernathy has very little say in & is the same for every doctor at Pinon Family Practice. Some of these mandates are state requirements & neither the doctor, nor the practice can make exceptions. In my personal experience, Dr Abernathy has always been professional, educational, compassionate, a good listener, & obviously a great doctor. I never felt she was rushing our appointment to get to the next patient. I highly recommend Dr Abernathy.
Wow!!! I cannot say enough nice things about Dr. Abernethy! I began searching for a new primary care physician for my elderly mother earlier this year. Dr. Abernethy was recommended to me by a trusted family friend. The process to get in to see her was extensive. She only takes new patients on a case by case basis, and the process requires an application and review. As a fellow health care provider, I very much appreciate this approach, as it tends to "weed out" doctor hoppers, or patients who aren't really all that serious about partnering with their physician on their health care needs. Thankfully, Dr. Abernethy accepted my mom as a new patient and the process has been so-far extremely positive. Her first appointment required an online check in process that included a comprehensive medical history. This link was sent out the week prior to the appointment, and gave us plenty of time to properly fill that out, saving tons of time in the office later. We were called back to an exam room within minutes of her scheduled appt time (I mean, where does THIS ever happen anymore?!?). Her nurse was extremely kind and patient with my slow-moving elderly mother. She engaged with us personally, and efficiently gathered all of the pertinent data prior to Dr. Abernethy entering the room. Dr. Abernethy was friendly, engaging, and extremely welcoming of both me and my mom. She was outwardly appreciative that my mom had brought a family member (which also doesn't always happen these days). I appreciate that she primarily addressed her questions to my mom, but was open to input from me when it was warranted. She did a thorough and extensive probe into current medications, side effects, current medical diagnoses, and chief complaint(s). The electronic records at this facility are also impressive. The patient portal is set up in an easy-to-navigate way and I am already extremely confident that the messaging back and forth on this portal will be much more comprehensive, timely, and informative than other offices we have visited. As we were walking out of the office, my mom commented "That is the first time in my life I have felt like a doctor actually listened to me." Wow! What a horrible indictment on the medical community as a whole, but I am so, so thankful that Dr. Abernethy takes her profession and oath seriously! Thank you for excelling at your job and for actually caring about the patients in your charge. We look forward to partnering with you in the future! If you need a new PCP, are serious about your health, and are willing to do the hard work, I would highly recommend Dr. Abernethy!
This review is more for the practice as a whole. My 78 year old mother in law that has been treated for a chronic cough for 2 years now at Pinon was not even able to exit her car on a cold and windy day. Three different staff members came to her car with space suits on. The pretended to listen to her heart and lungs as she leaned over her steering wheel with wind and traffic blaring in the background. They did not take a minute to look at her chart to see that she has had this cough long before Covid. They threw some asthma meds at her and sent her on her way. I called the office manager, Adana Mohler, and have NEVER been treated so unprofessionally. She defended their lack of care for their patients and practically begged me to find a new doctor. I did get upset with her and treated her the same way I was treated- the same way my mother in law was treated. She did not like that. She then "terminated us from receiving services" by certified mail. HA! Fast Food health care at its worst!
I was booted as a patient because I couldn't wear a face mask. Dr. Abernathy herself wrote a letter for me stating that I could not wear a face mask, but would wear a face shield. Yet when I went for an appointment I was told I MUST wear a mask. The doctor didn't even tell me herself, the office manager did.
Was treated very badly by office manager for not being able to wear a mask. Was refused service unless I wore one, which I can't do and I had a note written BY MY doctor saying I could wear a face shield. They booted me as a patient because of this.
Dr Abernethy is very profession, very nice and very thorough.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
