List of James E Egan's Reviews
Dreadful experience with Dr. Egan. His lack of follow up and knowledge led to disaster! Will not forgive him ever! He is a disgrace to the medical community!
My worker's comp doctor retired and I did research for a new Gastroenterology doctor. I reside in Thousand Oaks, CA and traveled to Santa Barbara for an appointment. I found him to be friendly, professional and a good caring doctor. This doctor listened to me. This doctor is a product of the U C system and is very smart. I recommend this doctor to anyone who needs a Gastroenterologist.
No bedside manner... Late coming in to do the procedure... very rough Did not speak to my husband after procedure.. Until we asled nurse for some sort of report! I was not impressed
This doctor is careless, unprofessional and dismissive! Got an endoscopy from him in early 2020 after over a year of chronic reflux and issues. He told me I was fine, up my doses of medication and change my diet. After I told him I had already done all these things he just said I was fine and try again. Weeks later I had worse symptoms called his office and they never got back to me. So I decided to go see Dr. Chang at UCI medical center who gave me an extensive endoscopy and listened to me. I ended up having a hiatal hernia, Barrett's esophagus and required a full surgery to have everything fixed. Months later I sent Egan a message telling him that he was wrong, he missed my hernia etc. About a week or so later I get a call on my cell phone and it's Egan!!!! He called me personally to try and tell me still that I didn't have a hernia, that he did nothing wrong and that he knew Dr. Chang, he was yelling and angry and then he hung up on me!!! My dad has worked in the GI field for years, Egan wouldn't talk to my dad after my first endoscopy after I asked him multiple times to connect with my dad. I had THE WORST experience with Egan, I tell everyone I know not to go to Him and avoid Sansum Clinic in Santa Barbara.
Seem proficient at putting a camera up your butt but neither he nor his team are capable of following instructions or answering questions on Sansum MyChart. I have asked multiple questions and have yet to receive a single response over the last 3 months . Terrible. Find someone else who cares about you as a person and not just as another payday.
I had an endoscopy performed by Dr. Egan, which was totally unacceptable. I have been having these for the past 25 years by other physicians with complete relief, but have had no relief of my issues with this last procedure. I am now forced to find another physician to perform this procedure again to correct my still present swallowing issues.
I absolutely love having Dr. Egan as my GI doctor. Prior to him, I went to another clinic in Jackson and didn’t have a great experience. I’ve also been to Vanderbilt but wanted something closer to home. With Dr. Egan, I always feel like he listens to me and is very thorough. He even takes the time to read back his notes to patients to make sure he captured everything. My UC has been in remission while under the treatment of Dr. Egan. I’ve been going for about two years. The nurses are really nice too. Highly recommend!
Dr. Egan takes so much time with his patients and truly communicates his care and concern.
Dr.Egan is wonderful very caring if you have questions he explains in a way you can understand his nurse practitioner Melisa Baines is awesome as well clinic staff very nice and expedient all I can say is Excellent all the way!!
Dr.Egan was very polite. Very through and answered all my questions. Took the time to explain everything. Highly recommend!!!!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
