I used to go to San Juan health partners Midwifery and they were so kind, sweet and had a very intimate setting and after a while felt like a family. Unfortunately they got wrongfully shut down and had to schedule my new appointment two months out with this office which was already inconvenient as is. Once I got there the receptionist with short straight dark hair wasn’t too friendly nor welcoming and said “you were supposed to be here at 9 because you need to fill out paperwork and have it turned in by 9:15, it’s 9:20” it was about 9:12 when she said that lol. I was standing there a little confused wondering if I’m going to be seen or just need to reschedule. Then the receptionist switched her attitude and becomes rude asking for my ID and insurance card very bluntly and hands me the paperwork and lets me know they may have to reschedule me. After paperwork a different receptionist who was blonde was very friendly and let me know we would have to reschedule for 2 more months. I just kindly ask for my paperwork back, my ID and I left. I called another gynecologist and they ask if tomorrow works for an appointment lol. After being there for a bit seeing all the patients they had, the receptionists didn’t make conversation or seem to know anyone that was there. In my opinion it didn’t seem like they cared to build relationships with patients that of course will come every month and so on if you’re pregnant. They just did what they had to do and called the next patient up. I really miss San Juan midwifery. No other office will compare to their care.

I was a new patient and was scheduled my appointment at 11am on 5/2/2022 to see Johanna Byrd. They asked for me to show up 30 minutes early for paperwork to ensure I got it done before my scheduled appointment time. I work for the State of NM and sometimes my interviews go longer than expected, so I got there at 10:39am and got my paperwork done BEFORE 11am. When I went up to the window at 10:58am they stated that my appointment was canceled due to not turning in paperwork on time and that I would have to re-schedule almost two months out to 6/16/2022. This is the most unprofessional, disrespectful office (staff and doctor) I have ever dealt with. They wrongfully dismissed me even though I got all my paper work in on time and could have been pulled back to a room AT my scheduled appointment time - in other words NOT late. I have canceled my appointment and will not be returning. I will also be letting others know of my experience. After reading other reviews I can see that this is an ongoing issue with this doctor and I would rather not waste my time. If I'm treated like this BEFORE even being seen, I cannot imagine how her bedside mannerisms are. I would encourage everyone to seek care elsewhere and would be concerned having anyone's well being in the hands of this doctor.

Very rude and self righteous. I wouldn't choose her for an obgyn if she was the last one on earth. Nurse wasn't much better.

I love her! She’s great at what she does. Makes you feel comfortable. Staff is amazing as well.

I was 17 years old and I ended up having to have an emergency C-section after being induced 10 days early due to doctors orders (I had preeclampsia). I had asked for an ultrasound before and it was declined, had they done the ultrasound they would have known my son was sunny side up. They did not realize this until I was already 9 cm dilated and going through tremendous pain! Dr Thorpe was the one who did my c section and delivered my baby safely... Dr Byrd was on vacation so i definitely feel I was left in the dark.

Dr. Byrd really listened to my needs and concerns and worked with me to choose the best options for my health. She always explained things so I could understand but was also honest about complications or side effects that could arise.
