I had the gastric sleeve done in 2021. I regret it. Now I'm left with more medical issues than before hanging skin with a lot of irritation and sometimes bleeding in the folds of the skin. Before I did the surgery they said that the insurance would pay to have the excess skin removed. All lies
I Had a great vist .And the doctors are very kind 😇
My issue is not with the staff, for the most part. I’m not sure where the ball was dropped to be honest, but I came in for a revision from sleeve to bypass to correct a hernia within the sleeve. I made that clear day one and although yes, I do have heartburn, it wasn’t my main concern but I guess they just ran with it. I did all the tests, the EGD, classes, everything just as they asked. Everything was fine until insurance denied the prior auth due to, according to the surgery scheduler, not having enough heartburn and reflex to justify a revision. I called a few days later (2 weeks ago) to get clarification about why it wasn’t submitted for hernia repair since that was my main concern. The girl at that answered got irritated with me and said she would have the surgery scheduler call me. STILL WAITING FOR A CALL BACK. I called the prior auth department for my insurance and they said my surgery was denied because it was submitted as Pre-diabetes, and obesity as the reason for surgery and I obviously don’t meet the criteria for those reasons. I called to try and ask about this and get clarification and like I said, 2 weeks later I have yet to hear back. I started the process in December and I feel like it was for nothing. Meanwhile, my hernia is still there and although my heartburn and reflux are not as severe, that’s still an issue too and no answers or communication other than what I got from my insurance. I guess if you take anything from this let it be to advocate for yourself and don’t be afraid to talk to your insurance too.
Had my gastric sleeve done about a month ago , I feel good physically and mentally in hands of the best doctor , doctor Fermin Fontan ! 100% recommend him.
Dr. Fontan and his staff are fantastic! My experience from initial visits to surgery and post-op have all been very positive. The staff is extremely supportive and will guide you through the process of getting ready for and completing bariatric surgery. If you've ever considered bariatric surgery, give them a call. Dr. Fontan and his staff are ready to help you make this wonderful change in your life.
Ever since I walked in the clinic I knew I had made a good decision. Dr. Fontan and his team helped me through my weight loss journey, and I am grateful to them. He is very knowledgeable about his work that surgery went smoothly and I had a great recovery. Now I’m finally under 200lbs. I entirety recommend them!
They are quick to get you in surgery but afterwards you have to chase them to get any answers Or any appointments. Also very hard to get ahold of
They need another nutritionist. The one they have is overworked.
This practice is ran like a cattle call. Ordered 4 tests...over a 6 month period of time. Poor attention to arriving patients, I sat there after signing in first visit for 30 min., only person in waiting room they did not alert provider I was there. Almost had to reschedule because of the staff. I provided my previous GI and GI surgeon records. I was sick. I needed help and they offered nothing but delays after 7 months and never being allowed to see the provider I fired this practice and went to El Paso. Sooo glad I did. Dr. Jorge Acosta was a life saver and I felt so much confidence in his care. Amazing outcome for a re-do nissen fundoplication. Don't trust this practice I am a former critical care nurse and have worked in law for 15 years so I'm not just blowing hot air. Horrible care at this practice
I'm a new Patience. My appointment was at1: 40. I arrived at 1:41 and they cancelled my appointment. Letting us know we need to arrive 30 minutes better amn appointment is unfair. We have to take 2 hours off of work just got wait 30 minutes to see the doctor. But if we are 1 minute late you cancel. Pushing back time we needed and had to go through loops just to get off of work. I really think that you guys need to redo how you run things. For instance, if an appointment is at 1:40, then tell The patient that their appointment is at 1:20 so that way they can get there 30 minutes before their original appointment. Makes more sense right!?

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
