List of Sally Mellgren Md's Reviews
Dr. Mellgren is without a doubt one of the best, if not the best, doctor I have ever experienced. She has consistently demonstrated a caring, warm and friendly bedside manner as she addresses my concerns and has invariably arrived at an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan. She also takes the time to explain her findings in a manner I can clearly understand. She performed cataract surgeries on both of my eyes with outstanding results and no complications!! And, in closing, she accomplishes all of this with her wonderful and warm smile.
Dr. Mellgren was fabulous. She had a great bedside manner listened to your concerns gave you her opinions when asked. She included you in all conversations and decisions. She performed cataract removal and new lenses.
Routine eye procedure left me with double vision
The best advice is Run while you can from this doctor. I am having to go to other doctors to straighten out both of my eyes after this incompetent doctor left parts of my cataracts in both eyes after surgery and burst my lens sack in one eye. If you value your eyes then run from this quack.
She prescribed steroid drops. The prescription was renewed and renewed without her checking my pressure . 9 months later I went in because something didn't feel right . My pressure was 42. I had developed steroid induced glaucoma . I am now partially blind and am being treated by a retinologist as we try to stabilize my vision .
I am a physician with a complicated corneal problem that arose from radial keratotomy procedures to improve my eyesight many years ago. When I saw retina specialists regarding eye "floaters" I also asked for recommendations regarding potential cataract surgery in view of my multiple corneal problems. These ophthalmologists offered very effusive praise for Dr. Sally Mellgren's meticulous, precise surgical technique and described her surgical skills as "truly extraordinary". During my first initial and pre-operative visits, I found Dr Mellgren to be very warm, caring and knowledgeable about my complicated corneal problem. She was very patient answering a long list of questions that I had and demonstrated expertise in the newest techniques and intraocular lens products available, including some that were not yet available in the US markets. Her office has the very latest in ophthalmology diagnostic equipment, some pieces being duplicated from different manufacturers to allow results to be cross-checked. The front desk staff was friendly, efficient, and professional. The technicians that performed various tests were very knowledgeable and proficient at using many different pieces of diagnostic equipment and had a very professional manner.I have already undergone the first cataract surgery, and have the other eye scheduled later this month.Overall, I have been very happy with my choice of Dr. Mellgren.
Dr. Mellgren is the very best. Kind, understanding, so knowledgeable and explains every aspect of eye problems during your visit. Never in a hurry and makes you feel like you are her only patient. I have recommended her to many people and they feel the very same. The Lord has blessed her with her amazing talent.
I love Dr. Mellgren & Dr. Long, but I will now never return, even though they're on my insurance!!!!! A month ago I scheduled an eye appointment for my 17 year old son to have his eyes examined after school for a contact lens refill. He's been there at least three times as a patient. I called today right before his appointment to tell them I'd pay his co-pay by credit card by phone, and they informed me that they wouldn't see him without a guardian!!!! They didn't mention this when I made the appointment, when they confirmed the appointment, or when I called to let them know he was on his way!!! I work 30 miles from home, so I couldn't very well just jump in the car & be there in 5 minutes!!! I told them this and they confirmed that he couldn't be seen unless I could find someone to accompany him. I've been working in private medical practices for 30 years, and have NEVER turned away an established teenage patient who arrive by him/herself!!POOR business model, GREAT way to turn away loyal customers!Sorry to say I'm shopping for another provider, and there are LOTS of competitors!
Dr Mellgren is absolute perfection. She is careful, compassionate, and eminently qualified. She replaced both of my lenses and it was painless and my sight has never been better. Yes, she may ask you to return for several visits, but that is a small price to pay when your vision is on the line. I simply cannot express how comforting it has been to have Dr. Mellgren care for my vision. Highly recommend.
I liked her manner and presentation and felt she was very competent. On my recommendation my wife went to be seen by Dr. Mellgren to have her eyeglasses prescription updated. After a thorough examination she was told she needed to make a separate appointment with their optometrist to get her new Rx. And next, she'd need to submit the Rx to their optician for the new lenses. So, we don't like their business model. My wife's needs should have been handled all at the same visit and the extra charge for an optometrist was unnecessary, as any ophthalmologist is perfect capable of doing the tests for a new Rx. Mellgren is fine for treatment but we will go to Costco for Rx's and new lenses.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
