Does Not Seem Interested in His Patients. No time for questions. Spent most of his time on the computer editing the notes from our last appointment to create notes from the current appointment. Does not answer questions. Does not look for cause. Does not treat. Just runs labs every 8-12 weeks. Not what I would consider remotely decent care. He glosses over lab results but does not provide reports or give online access (despite repeated requests for access to their portal).
Was under this doctor’s “care” for a full year and probably spent less than 15 minutes with him in that time. My kidney function steadily declined over that year, but his approach was basically to do labs every 3 months and wait. No real treatment plan. No biopsy was ever done to figure out the cause of my issues either, and when I brought it up he pooh-poohed the suggestion and said it wasn’t necessary. He gave me little to no information about my condition and I was basically flying blind the entire time. When my kidney function dropped down to around 20% he did finally put me on a blood pressure medication - one that gave me gout flare ups weekly. When I called his office to inform them of this and sent over labs from my PCP reflecting my sky-high uric acid, no one ever bothered to return my calls. Finally switched nephrologists and couldn't be happier. Stay far away from Dr. Etomi if you value your kidneys!
