Dr. Obara seems very "textbook" in his style of consultation. He didn't give me much information about my cancer and never told me the type of cancer I had. I looked it up on the Quest website. I asked what side effects of chemotherapy were and he only said I'd lose my hair. I had to look on line to find out most of the information about the cancer and the outcome/side effects. I asked specific questions at times and was not given good answers to the questions. I did attend ASK MY DOCTOR workshops from the Lymphoma Foundation that were very helpful and I asked those doctors questions and found great answers! I found out about this foundation on my own. Cancer was all new to me and I wanted information and felt that I had to find the information elsewhere. Other staff were more helpful that worked in the Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Dr Obara in my first visit strongly recommend I see Dr Wang a throat surgeon. I did not know at the time that Dr Wang was regarded by his peers to be one of the best. My surgery was successful and my follow up visits with Dr Obara have been professional and reassuring. To date, I am cancer free and hope it remains that way.
