List of Jonathan Smith's Reviews
This was the best experience I have ever had at an eye appointment. This was my first time going to an appointment without my mom and I felt so comfortable. He was so knowledgeable and explained everything he was doing. I learned so much about my eyes and would recommend anyone that needs a vision checkup to go here!
Dr. Smith has been my eye doctor for ever. One of the few doctor visits I am looking forward to. Not only is he competent, I'm convinced he cares for his patients. And the ladies at the front desk are always very nice as well. I will continue coming here as long as I am within couple of hundred miles radius. I hope that these rude, entitled princesses from coastal California that are flooding our previously super friendly town will not chase the good doctor away. We need him.
Dr. Smith is a wonderful doctor and a community resource. Naturally he is a consummate professional, as well his practice has an extremely kind and caring staff. His equipment is state of the art. I have been seeing Dr. Smith for a number of years and have always felt comfortable and confident with his diagnoses and recommendations. His practice (like most) is busy and often cannot take new patients or drop ins, So, call before you go to his office. I recommend Dr. Smith without hesitation.
Dr. Smith has been the Eye care professional for our family for more than 2 years. Friendly, professional, community conscious and provides cutting edge eye health technology. Efficient front office staff and nice selection of eye wear. Would recommend!
I showed up at this eye doctor today because it was recommended to me by a very kind person at the Incline Village Community hospital. I went there and first drive into this small horrible parking lot that had no proper parking.. then there was a huge bump in parking lot that ripped the bottom of my car off. Second I proceed to go to the window outside for the optometrist office and never felt so disrespected.. the two ladies working there were absolutely rude to me. First I show up to the window the one lady just stares at me trying to ignore me then asks what I want? What do you think I want lady? Rude!!! I say I am new to the area wanted to see if I could see Dr. Smith. They both tell me NO we are not taking any new patients. I was like what do you mean? They said no new patients maybe not till fall?? I was shocked I said okay. They were rude arrogant they probably thought I was Mexican or something and they are probably Trump fans treated me like I was dirt. I never heard of a doctors office not excepting new patients in my life. I needed to see a new eye doctor because I am new to the area. This doctor was recommended to me and these ladies just made that doctor get a bad rep. I was going to go there and also recommend my husband to go there. But was so rudely chased away. Not even an effort just flat out no. If you hate your job so much then quit don't treat people like that you don't know what that person is dealing with. I hope the doctor reads this. You need a new staff. I have dealt with many medical professionals from the Bay Area to San Diego and I have never ever been treated this way .. absolutely rude nasty. I will never go here again . I am sure the doctor is nice but I wouldn't know because I am not allowed to see him. Please find better people to work for your office people like that don't belong in the medical field. Arrogant nasty!! I truly hope your day and life is crappy for treating talking to people the way you do. Take an etiquette class or something!
I've been seeing Jonathan Smith for the past 18 years and would recommend him to anyone. I've always received great care and he has updated equipment that makes the quality of the care wven better. He has a machine that takes photos of your retina. That's excellent for two reasons. Your retina photos can be compared to previous year photos, getting information about your health as it relates to your eyes and the rest of your body. This equipment can tell you about different conditions in your body, like high blood pressure or diabetes before it shows up on a physical exam. As for the office staff, they are always knowledgeable and kind. They are all friendly, warm, good people who do their job well. Thanks to all of you! You make my day every time see you!
His office is the only Optometrist in town. Already having an eyeglass prescription from another Optometrist, it was convenient to fill the prescription for lenses locally. The staff member gave me an estimate and I authorized them to proceed even though they send out the prescription to a lab. Three days later another staff member phones me and raises the estimate by 50%. My insurance will cover much of the cost if I submit a claim form so I told them to proceed, if they can give me a detailed receipt with a cost breakdown. They don't submit the claim. I had to do that. The lenses arrived 10 days later. When I returned to their office, I asked them to verify that the lenses actually matched the prescription. They couldn't do that they said because the lensometer was broken. I then asked them for a detailed receipt and they said they couldn't do that without the doctor's sign-off. I told them that the doctor didn't provide a diagnosis or the prescription, which is something they already knew. After I described to them the specific information I needed to claim the eyeglass cost on my insurance, they acted like this was a big favor and grudgingly complied. All in all, they provided no inducement for me to visit their office again.
By far the best eye Doc anywhere. We are lucky to have him. Staff super nice. Got my prescription in my Maui Jim's ! Love them! Thanks you guys!!
I had a bad experience and bad service and I gave the difference for a pair of glasses that came out of the insurance money and I never received it.
I'll take this "small town doctor" over the big city "one hour" stores any day. Dr. Smith always takes his time with my exam, comparing my scans from one year to the next and pointing out each of the areas of interest. I've learned a lot about my eyes! I've lived here for 19 years and I can't remember when I started seeing him but it's been about 13 years - after I got tired of the big city store baloney and 45 minute drive to Reno. From their optical shop, I got a great pair of back up glasses at a reasonable price and my contacts are typically in-office within a day or so of me ordering them. One of the best parts is that Dr. Smith is always reasonably on time. Maybe once I waited 10 minutes after my initial testing but it has never been the long waits in typical eye care practices. His optician and office manager staff are always nice to me and get me taken care of very quickly. I love living in this mountain town and having such a great doctor so close by. Thanks guys!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
